This is a rustic cabin--no plumbing or electric. It has battery-powered permanent lighting.
It is furnished with beds, chairs, table, clothing and food storage, and other necessary furnishings. Our guests supply their own pillows, blankets, sheets, towels, pots, pans, plates and silverware. There are portapotties and a showerhouse nearby, as well as sources of potable drinking water. The Cabin overlooks our wild, whitewater stream that runs through a majestic hemlock forest.
Dogs welcome!

The space

In some places, the stream is a constant source of energy and playfulness; in other places, it is peaceful and calming. The forest offers a vast array of plants, and signs of wildlife are everywhere.
In the cabin, there is a queen bed and a set of bunk beds on the main floor. There are two sleeping lofts; one has a queen mattress, the other has two twin mattresses.

Guest access

We are located within 30-45 minutes of many major recreational areas, including Blackwater Falls, Swallow Falls, Dolly Sods Wilderness, the Youghiogheny River, several ski resorts, and Deep Creek Lake.

As others have said, this place is a great place especially for the price. If what you're looking for is a no frills, quiet, primitive cabin, then this is definitely what you want! We drove out for a one-night escape from DC with our dog on a rather chilly November day. Our host pointed out that the cabin we had picked online was one of the few without heat on the property and kindly switched us to one with heat. The night got down to 12 degrees, and we were all quiet happy in that cabin and so grateful he pointed it out and let us switch! There weren't a lot of other people staying at Abrams Creek while we were there, so it was very quiet for us. I'm sure it's busier in the summer with the awesome river that runs through the area. Other important things to note/prepare yourself: no cell service in the valley so load music or podcasts to listen to before you get there. Water to the campground is understandably shut off once it starts to get cold so you have to walk to the lodge (a very pleasant two-minute walk) to fill up. All in all, a great place. Super relaxing and refreshing!

Price is right and you get what you paid for. We are used to primitive camping, usually in the middle of the forest with nothing but a fire ring. We are all getting older, so pitching a tent, sleeping on the ground, and then tearing up camp is just to much to deal with, so renting this cabin was just right. No camp set up...and the cabin was used just for sleeping anyway. We really enjoyed being able to sit outside and see/hear the creek. That is what drew me to this cabin in the first place. Definitely will return

Michael and his staff memebers were all so warm and welcoming, and it was the perfect way for my friend and I to end our backpacking excursion. They were extremely kind and helpful, as well as quick to introduce themselves. They gave good advice about possible places to check out, and just made the stay so much better. We will definitely consider getting some friends together to come back. Thanks for sharing your lovely property with us!!
