Private apartment just a couple blocks from North Park and Normal Heights, and close to Hillcrest and Downtown. If you're looking for a fun weekend in San Diego enjoying our eclectic neighborhoods, great restaurants, breweries, bars, and other entertainment, you can't go wrong! Uber and Lyft arrive within just a couple minutes, and there is a bus stop on the corner that will take you to North Park (just one stop), Hillcrest, Balboa Park, SD Zoo, and Downtown. The beach towns are 10-15 min away.

The space

Here you'll have more than the privacy of only renting a private room, and thus have full access to the kitchen, bathroom, main area, and television (Netflix, Hulu, Pandora, etc.) without tiptoeing around. My apartment is in Central San Diego, close to lots of fun neighborhoods, and only a short drive/Uber to the beach. Let me know if you need any recommendations on where to go!

Guest access

Spacious living room with kitchen and bathroom for private use. There is plenty of space for the queen air mattress, which I have recently purchased and is extremely comfortable, and if needed/preferred the couch is so soft you'll fall asleep immediately. My bedroom will be locked while I am away, but the rest of the apartment is available for your use all weekend. The kitchen is fully stocked with coffee maker, teapot, dishes, etc.

Interaction with guests

I will be staying nearby in Normal Heights house/dog-sitting for friends, but will give you your privacy. Feel free to let me know if you need anything or have any questions!

This place is pretty nice for the price. The location is a bit far from Downtown but the parking is very easy. It's not luxuous but perfect if you just need a place to sleep.

This is a very central location to most of everything in San Diego. Kathryn is very nice and helpful. We accidentally locked ourselves out and she saved the day. I will say, though, that we were disappointed in the overall stay - the place was not represented well. The neighborhood was rougher than I expected- which isn't the worst thing - I have family from Barrio Logan, but I would've liked to know what I was getting into; the bed in the photo is an airbed; the couch, that a 3rd person sleeps on has an out of place cushion on the seat; there is one light that works in the living room. The kitchen area is very dark. The bathroom needed some work - picked up, but not sure if it was clean or rundown. The place is a bit stuffy, but due to the design of it we didn't feel comfortable leaving the door or windows open for circulation because it is very exposed. If I lived there and knew the neighbors I might be ok with that, but as a guest I was not. Again, Kathryn is great - I think she has potential to make this an oasis, but for now we will be staying elsewhere.

Response from Kathryn:
Hi Zenaida, I'm sorry you were disappointed by your stay. My apartment listing is very clear that the bedroom is off-limits (that is where I store all personal effects, etc.) and the sleeping arrangements are a queen-sized sofa bed and the sofa. The description and photos both reflect this. The bathroom is scrubbed and sanitized between guests, including every inch of the bathtub, and there is no mold in the apartment. All surfaces are dusted, sanitized, vacuumed, etc. I did install a prettier cloth shower curtain, unfortunately right after you left - it was shipped later than expected. The overhead lighting in the living room has three different options. The neighborhood is quite safe - it used to not be, but gentrification has been creeping in. :) While the outside of my building is admittedly a bit shabby (as I had told you), I keep the inside clean, bright and spotless. Again, I am sorry that you were disappointed by your stay, but hope you enjoyed your trip overall.

Hello and welcome to my home! I grew up in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, but have called San Diego home for over 13 years. This apartment is my primary residence, but I rent it out occasionally while traveling or house/dog-sitting for friends nearby. I hope you enjoy your vacation, an…
