Tiny House living! Fondly referred to as the Casita, this studio style home packs functionality into a minimalistic style of living. This newly renovated space has cool industrial vibe with fresh new finishes. Situated behind a modern but historic home with a gorgeous backyard, the Casita has its own patio but the canopy oak tree that shades the backyard is something that just makes you feel serene.

The space

The Casita is the perfect place for the traveling person to have their own private space yet not feel like they are traveling as the setting feels like a vacation. It's outfitted to work for a short term stay or a longer term stay. It can be added to the booking of the main house that it sits behind should a larger group want complete privacy or use of the space for its additional full bathroom.

It's perfect for a summer intern, a traveling nurse, a student or professor visiting San Jose State University, a business person, or a great space for visitors of residents of the area who don't have enough room to have you! It's great for a couple as well as a single person. It could be a little staycation spot or if you're traveling through California and need to break up your travel, San Jose makes a great midway point.

The Casita's kitchen has a small microwave, induction burner, coffee maker, and toaster oven, pantry storage and a fold up table under a window looking out to your patio.

Guest access

The patio outside the Casita, and one parking space either on the driveway or with a permit on the street. You will have access to the both side yards so that you can enter the utility room of the main house to utilize the washer and dryer.

Interaction with guests

I'm only a text or a phone call away.

Other things to note

To retain the privacy of the main house, the walking path to the Casita is through the side yard and then the backyard. When two different guests are occupying the Casita and the main house, a portable privacy screen will line the path to the Casita.

Parking is permit parking on the street. Please mention if you have a car so we can include a permit hanger for your car. This MUST be returned at the end of your stay to avoid a charge. You will only park on the street if the main house is occupying the driveway.

The property is protected by nest cameras. The backyard is video'd by an exterior camera and will pickup entry & exit into the casita.

I stayed in this tiny house, aka the Casita, for 16 nights. I was looking for a private place during my work assignment in San Jose. This place was a great value and offered all the amenities I needed for my extended stay. This is truly a tiny house, complete with a kitchenette, comfy bed, walk-in shower, and a separate bathroom with a toilet and sink. The main doors open up to a beautiful private patio, giving you a bit more space to enjoy. The space was super clean and comfortable upon arrival. Stacey, the host was there to greet me upon arrival. She took the time to show me all of the cool features of this tiny house. There are many cute decorative touches and creative space-saving storage options. Everything was so well thought out. I would recommend this place for long and short term stays. Stacey is an incredible host. I can tell that she really enjoys her job as hostess. She really went out of her way to accommodate my needs, big or small. Upon my move-in, she even took me to go pick up my car from a nearby storage facility! I am sure that was certainly not in her job description, but it just goes to show you how kind she is. She acts as hostess for several properties around San Jose, so she can definitely help you find the best accommodations for your needs. Come stay at the Tiny House or at any of Stacey's other listings--you won't be disappointed!

I was hesitant to stay in a "tiny house" because I am so used to "normal" sized places. In the end, my 19 day stay was amazing and helped me adapt to life in San Jose and also realize how little I really "need." The house is so cleverly built, that despite the small floor plan, it doesn't feel claustrophobic at all. Table folds away (with just one hand) to give more kitchen space. The bathroom is one of the nicest I have ever used with reflective exterior glass and interior glass and an amazing amount of storage. The whole space is super clean and fresh. There is a patio with a lounge chair that was great for watching TV, reading, or journaling at the end of a long day or work plus fruit trees and a small herb garden made it feel so homey! The location was great, super easy walking distance to Japantown and lots of dining options. Target and Trader Joes (and a bunch of other stores) only a mile away so you can even bike or walk there if you come without a car. Easy access to freeway ramp or the train! BUT despite all this, you are on a super quiet street where the neighbors say hello, literally, multiple neighbors! Stacey was great, met me for check in to help me get oriented to the set up of the apartment, the appliances, on-site laundry room, and the lock and lighting system. EVERYTHING is included- hangers, small appliances, cooking tools (pots, knifes, dishware), mini soaps for the shower, sheets, towels, coffee maker, laundry detergent. She even left some cookies which were my sole source of nutrition as I unloaded my car and unpacked! (Before I ordered pizza delivery). Stacey also was very responsive to any questions and always messaged back right away. She is super dedicated to making sure the house is comfortable and her guests feel safe and happy in the space. Great for a short visit or a long stay!!

Response from Stacey:
Thank you Carlie for your great description of how it feels to experience tiny living and the fabulous location of the property. I appreciate that you noticed my effort to plan the space for optimizing the space for storage of one's personals yet not feeling compromised and at the fact that using the patio to extend your living area as a plus to the overall footprint. I think that aspect is what balances out that you're living "tiny".

I am a realtor. I am California born and raised. I love meeting new people and have been to many places throughout the world. I like to travel, I like sports, good food (I'm a good cook and a foodie when I'm in a new place), and animals. I consider myself kind and considerate, mellow but energetic, friendly, not high maintenance. If you were to ask my friends what I'm about, they'd probably say she's always helping someone....I know everyone, I stay connected, I'm loyal, I get it done.
