Klista's cabin is located south of Wallowa lake, in a forested area just off the main highway. There are many other cabins in the area, most of which weren't occupied, so it was quiet and peaceful during our stay. The gravel roads are a bit of a maze, but Klista's directions were accurate and easy to follow. The cabin was larger than I was expecting, and had everything we needed during our stay. It was clean, comfortable, and we loved the log construction. We enjoyed sitting out on the deck and watching the deer each evening. The only mishap we had was when I accidentally turned on the gas woodstove with a remote I thought was for the ceiling fan. It took a few minutes to figure out how that worked. :) It would also be helpful if there were nightlights at the top and bottom of stairs. We ended up having to flip on a big light to navigate the stairs at night, waking up whoever was still sleeping. There was also a droning sound outside that persisted day and night during our stay. I'm guessing it was the nearby power plant, but don't know. Not an issue, just one of the those little oddities you have to get used to in a new place. Overall we really enjoyed our visit to Klista's cabin and the Joseph area in general. We only stayed two nights, wish we had stayed longer. So much more to see and do in the area than I realized. Thanks Klista!

This is a great place to stay. I really recommend it. Staying south of the lake is the best. You will be close to so many activities (mini golf, horseback tours, Tram, food, bumper boats, and of course the marina & park). Plus, the main town of Joseph is only a 10 minute drive. The Cabin is well situated up on a hill. Very quiet area, mostly you just hear the near by Wallowa river). It has all the amenities it says it does. The kitchen is modern and well stocked with the devices you'll need to prepare meals. The closest big grocery store is 25 minutes away, though there is a smaller one just 10 minutes away. There is a gas grill, WiFi works great, family games, DVD's, cable. Kids will have a fine time. There is no air conditioning, but it's easy to open up the windows and doors in the evening and let the fresh breeze in). There were only 3 of us, but I would be comfortable with up to 5 or 6. All the beds are up stairs and it's quiet up there. We stayed 4 nights and did not want to leave. Oh, and the tap water is amazing. If you are from a big city, like Portland, you will be shocked at how drinkable the water is straight from the tap. Really.

Excellent cozy cabin for two couples and a 3 year old for a long weekend on the lake. Well stocked house, lots of space inside and out. Nice tucked in location up the hill and away from the more crowded lakeside scene. We'd love to come back!

I grew up in Wallowa County and moved a away for a few year. We have had our cabin since 1998 so we always had a place to come back to. We have recently moved back to Joseph. I love to hike the beautiful mountains that surround us. I also love to read and sew. My husband of 30 years loves to hunt and fish. We have a daughter who lives on the East Coast. We love to be around family and friends.
