Stay in the Old Music Room, a delightfully large, comfortable, airy, South-facing, bed-sitting room on the first floor of our Hythe home, with separate private bathroom and Guest kitchen; and glorious views over the English Channel. On a clear morning you can see France.

We can sleep up to 8 people in 2 double rooms and 1 twin room. This accommodates 6 adults in total, plus 2 children or other adults on a small pullout bed and a floor mattress.

The space
We are able to accommodate 8 people in total, in three rooms.

In The Old Music Room, we offer a king sized bed with a very comfortable medium rated mattress. There is also a sofa which would be suitable for a small child. The sofa with the back cushions removed is 66cms x 118cms, or 26ins x 46ins for those who prefer imperial measure!

We are able to accommodate a further 2 people in a standard double bed in another large room next door to The Old Music Room, but they must be part of the same travelling group. This room is not let separately to other Airbnb guests. This room has a TV and a wash hand basin. We can talk about the best way to accommodate your party when you make a reservation.

There is also a further room with two single beds should this be required. Again, this room will never be let separately to another group, but is available to those who book, from the same group, if necessary.

We can accommodate a further 2 people in these rooms using a floor mattress and a fold away bed, as required by our guests.

You may have access to the washing machine should you need to during your stay.

We do not offer catering but there will be breakfast cereals etc. for you to help yourself and we have made separate kitchen facilities available to you should you want them. The pretty Hythe High Street, one of the longest in the country, is less than a five-minute walk (or a two-minute drive) where there are plenty of restaurants and pubs offering food, many providing breakfast also.

There will be tea and coffee facilities in the Old Music Room room, but not in the other rooms.

We are about 3 miles from J11 of the M20 and are ideally placed for the Channel Tunnel at Folkestone (11 minutes), the cross channel ferries at Dover (25 minutes) and the Eurostar service from Ashford International Station (23 minutes).

Guest access
I am free and easy and you will have access to whatever you might need in my house during your stay. If you need to use the washing machine, or keep something in the freezer - whatever you might need. We also have a separate Guest kitchen and you are welcome to use that for your own needs. It has a cooker, oven and fridge, and microwave. We will of course provide you with pots and pans, plates and dishes etc.

Other things to note
Although noted elsewhere parking is outside our door. If I know when you are arriving I will move my car if necessary to make room for you. If you get lost, because the street numbering is a bit higgeldy piggledy, please call and I will guide you in.

Travelling along Hillside Street from East to West, our house is the last but one house on the left before the road turns sharply right and steeply uphill. Outside our house my silver Saab is normally parked too.

Hythe is a beautiful cinque port town with a lovely unspoilt beach. The old town, where we live, is built on the hillside with the high street running East-West at the foot of the hill. The newer part of the town is built to the South on land where once the sea ebbed and flowed.

Hythe is ideally placed for exploring the beautiful Garden of England and the Weald. Towns such as Canterbury, Tenterden and Rye are all within 40 minutes drive through stunning countryside. Dover Castle is 30 minutes drive away.

The world famous Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway has a terminus in Hythe. Travelling on this is a real treat. There's more information here - (URL HIDDEN)

A walk along the banks of the Royal Military Canal is a treat too, especially in Spring and Summer. In August of every other year, (i.e. 2017, 2019 etc.) it hosts the renowned Hythe Venetian Fete, something not to be missed if you are here at that time.

I am a retired British Army officer who loves to share his home with others. I love political discussion and gardening - well, at least I manage to keep the garden under control most of the time! I read a lot and from time to time I also teach on revelation TV. I enjoy opera and ballet too. I have three daughters who are all grown up and independent, who are simply the best! I have four wonderful and clever grandchildren too. I am truly very blessed.
