Relax and unwind at Huckleberry House, a mountain retreat just minutes from Cheaha State Park, Coldwater Mountain Bike Trails, and the brand new Choccolocco Sports Park.

Barbecue in the outdoor kitchen, watch the sunset from the hot tub on the upper deck, or read a good book surrounded by 360 views of nature and a scenic overlook of the city.

The space
Our home sits amidst thirty acres of mountain forest and is situated atop the peak of a ridge overlooking the city of Oxford. The property is just across the bypass from the Mountain Longleaf Wildlife Preserve, a 9,000 acre refuge in the Southern Appalachian Mountain Range. Enjoy beautiful hikes, encountering huge longleaf pines, deer, turkey, and other wildlife. The focus is on relaxation in nature. Windows and porches put breathtaking views at your fingertips day and night. Watch the sunset from the hot tub, see the city lights twinkle on, and enjoy a movie under the stars. The house is equipped with Wi-Fi and smart tv's, putting movies at your fingertips even in the outdoor spaces.

The sleeping situation: We have two "normal bedrooms", one on the lowest level of the house, with a queen bed, and the master bedroom on third floor, with a king size bed. On the lowest floor there is also a sectional sofa in the living room that makes up into a queen size bed. Finally, we have what we call the "tower", which is a crow's nest at the top of the house, surrounded by 360 views. Up here we have two twin mattresses that can be made up separately or into a king bed, just let us know how you prefer when you book! A word of warning about the tower. It is four flights of stairs and a ladder climb to get to the top. The views are spectacular, but the climb requires some athleticism. The final step from the ladder into the room can be a bit tricky. Please make sure if you need to sleep more than six that this space is suitable for your party!

Where you’ll be

Anniston, Alabama, United States

Although surrounded by natural beauty, the entrance to the property is directly in the heart of Golden Springs, a lovely neighborhood between Anniston and Oxford. A five minute drive in any direction takes you to three different grocery stores, the Oxford Exchange Outdoor Mall, Golden Springs Community Center (where you'll find tennis courts, a marked 5K and 10K running route, walking track, gym, and group exercise classes), three pharmacies, and the Choccolocco Sports Complex. Enjoy day trips to Cheaha State Park, Coldwater Mountain Bike Trails, the southern portion of the North Alabama Wine Trail, and the Chief Ladiga Rails to Trails Track. Take in a performance at the Oxford and Anniston Performing Arts Centers, visit one of the local farmer's markets for fresh produce, or have a stroll around historic downtown Oxford for some antiquing and boutique shopping.

I'm a young professional who loves to travel, create new spaces, and curl up with my cats and a good book. With the help of talented friends and family, I designed and built my home over the past several years and am proud to be able to share it. My business partner and I also recently renovated a Historic Building in downtown Oxford which dates back to the late 1800's and is now the home of our office and an art gallery showcasing local black and white photography scenes of East Alabama through the decades.
