Walk around a flagstone path to your own entry to this newly refinished bedroom (queen) & full bath suite - spacious room looks out to yard, salt marsh, & tidal river, slate hallway to own private bath & shower; own keypad access from the outside, separated from upstairs inside. Enjoy backyard & dock, maybe launch a kayak. A few minutes from Kittery Outlets & York Hospital; in good traffic 10 minutes to York beaches. Perfect for vacationers, also great for folks doing rotations or similar work.
This is a special spot on the tidal York River. You can see the tide move in and out from your room, read in the old rocker, work at the desk (with internet connection), watch the birds and wildlife in the yard... the room is bright and has totally separate access. You can sit right outside your door and watch the for high and low tide or walk down to the dock and enjoy your morning coffee (or evening drink!).
Guest space is totally separated from the rest of the house. But while staying with us you’re welcome to use the large kitchen if you wish; just keep in mind that it is a shared space and must be kept clean. You're also welcome to make use of the large backyard and the dock on the river. We also have a kayak you can borrow if you'd like to go for a paddle up the river.
Interaction with guests
We are sometimes around during the days and often in the evening, and enjoy meeting new people - but also think it's important to let guests enjoy their own space. If not at home, just a text or phone call away if you have any questions. Happy to tell you about our favorite things to eat, see and do in the area - York is a classic Maine historic village, and York & neighboring Kittery have many beautiful places to walk and some truly great restaurants.
Other things to note
Queen bed, small fridge & microwave, plus supplies for coffee/tea in your room. TV, internet connection, place to read, rest, or work watching the bluebirds, hummingbirds and finches, and an occasional heron (ok we are not promising all, but they are often here.)

My son Alex and his wife Hillary hosted airbnb at this location last year and got their mother hooked on trying it. They are young farmers and are around part of each week delivering their CSA (community supported agriculture) shares, so folks might still see them, or my daughter Althea, a radical chef! I'm considerably less interesting -- a mostly-retired law professor, now a farmer's wife (we have a vegetable farm in Newport Maine). I just finished editing and publishing a book with the American Bar Association on implicit bias, so my work life is a bit two-sided, part farmer's wife, part author. Beyond all this, I'd say my other interests are in cooking (well, we do grow all those vegetables) and reading, mostly mysteries, totally for escape.
