Worst Airbnb experience ever. I always use Airbnb whenever I travel and I've never had a problem till now. Hosts were rude and made my entire family (aunt and cousin visiting from Philippines who have never been to Canada before, two senior citizen parents and 7 year old son) feel uncomfortable to the point where we were afraid to speak in the house or even move outside of our bedrooms. I didn't even get a chance to shower the next morning as we were berated by accusations from Marianne, Leo and their daughter. We felt so entirely uncomfortable that we packed our things and left immediately. The house smells old and musty and the hosts' bedroom is right near the kitchen in the middle of the house. It's very uncomfortable, like you're constantly being watched at what you do. Absolutely no privacy. They accused us of not paying for additional parties even though a payment had been made online through the website. A message had been sent to me to pay them in cash the following morning ( A BIG NO-NO). Mind you, they asked for an additional $27 each per person even though online states an additional party fee of $22. Marianne then continued to complain how we checked-in late even though I sent a message that we were sight seeing in Montreal and wouldn't arrive to Quebec till after 7:00 p.m. We arrived at 9:30 p.m. Again, had she checked her messages, she would have known. Also, she guarded the door, almost closing it immediately every time we tried to step in the house as to prevent flies from coming in. One time, my cousin wasn't even fully in the house yet and she was already closing the door on her. She complained that I just "walked in" the house even though an email message was sent that, "the door will be unlocked (which it was was), just come in, the rooms are upstairs, etc...." Of course, I'm not that rude and wouldn't have just "barged" in unless I was instructed to. Since we were travelling from Toronto, we had brought food and a cooler and had planned to cook dinner. Couldn't even do that as the kitchen was closed by 9:00 p.m., a rule not stated online. Overall, the hosts were unaccommodating and utterly rude. If they had stated their concerns at the outset upon arrival, it wouldn't have been a problem. We could have easily talked things out or I would have happily left and checked in a hotel, even if I were to lose my deposit. But they decided to not say anything until the next morning. I really hope they get denied their chance at being hosts or bare minimum, get trained in proper etiquette.

Response from Marianne Et Léo:

Wonderful hosts, very generous and friendly. The house is in a quiet neighbourhood, so we got good sleep at night. We were able to use her kitchen to cook for our dinner. We had a good chat over the various art pieces that are made by her, and the stories behind them. It was really nice stay.

We enjoyed our short stay at Marriane's house, location is at the end of the island, out of traffic and out of town. Perfect after a day visiting the island. Marriane and Leo were very kind and helpful and did their best to accommodate our needs. They offered advices about visiting, maps, etc. The house is very beautiful inside and out, lots of parking available. The room was small, clean, with the minimum necessary. Small bathroom beside and a big bathroom for showering. Will return for sure next time we visit the island :)

Thank you Marianne and Léo! A wonderful place to stay as two cyclists to exploring l'ile d'orléans! A beautiful location, away from the city but cycling distance from the town. Great hospitality. A very comfortable bed and shower, would recommend!

We canceled the day after you reserved because there was a misunderstanding about the number of persons coming and we tried to find an arrangement but you refused.
