This property is situated on the banks of the Saugeen River in the town of Durham. Guests will have full use of the 1 1/2 story bungalow, landscaped lot and private beach area. A short stroll up the street takes you to McGowan's Falls and access to the Durham Conservation Area, with its public beaches and hiking trails. The Durham Art Gallery is a stone's throw away, as are public tennis and basketball courts.
The house is quite bright and well-maintained. The kitchen, three bedrooms, bathroom and dining/living room are all located on the main floor. Downstairs, guests will find a games room, a family room and a second bathroom. Access to the garage is restricted.
The kitchen contains a fridge, stove and dishwasher and is stocked with the usual cookware including plates, cutlery and (perhaps most importantly) a coffee maker. There is usually a bottle or two of wine kicking around. There is also a gas barbecue right outside the kitchen door.
The yard and deck areas are very private and the many mature trees on the property offer visitors lots of shade.
Guests will have full run of the property, other than the garage/shop area.
A paddle boat, a canoe (* editor's note: our canoe is showing its age and is under repair at the moment..) and a kayak are all available at no charge. If you're lucky enough, you may catch your breakfast in the river. There is a fire pit in the backyard with 1-2 days' of supplied wood and directions for more.
While you will want to be relaxing by the river, the house does have free wifi, air conditioning and a full compliment of satellite tv channels.
Interaction with guests
We are airbnb'ers ourselves and know the value of good communication. Your hosts can be reached by cell, text or email and we will endeavour to respond to any questions or concerns immediately. Other than that, our job is to stay out of your hair and to let you enjoy the property.
