I am Italian, Greece is my second home. In the ‘90s I bought a sea-front land in Rhodes, Apollakia bay, with the intention to build my house there. Right after, I discovered that a giant thermoelectrical power plant was going to be constructed on that beach, nesting site of the sea turtle Ceretta Caretta. With a team of searchers (from Universities of Athens and Rome and Chelon)) and the BTCV volunteers, I tried for several years to obtain the protection of the important and delicate natural environment, hosting other rare wild animals. Our work contributed to block the construction of the power plant and the area is now included in the European network Nature 2000. In 2001 I completed the construction of the Ecovilla, the first straw bale house in Rhodes and perhaps in Greece. The first guests were the children assisted by the Greek association Hamoielo tou pediou, who enjoyed a happy and healthy holiday. For over 20 years I've been engaged in humanitarian and development projects run by the Red Cross or the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Afghanistan, Yemen, South Sudan and other countries. I currently chair pro bono Nove Onlus, an ngo assisting vulnerable women, children and disabled persons. The rent of my houses contributes to support Nove Onlus’ activities. I've written two of my books in Glikorizo. I am happy to share this special place with people who respect and love the natural environment. If you seek a holiday out of the schemes, this is the perfect place for you. Here you can experience the sound of waves and crickets, enchanting smells, the view of the sunset and starry skies, the discreet presence of wild animals and much more. You might make unusual dreams, meet the local shepherd with hundreds goats on the beach, use our organic aloe and the local clay for beauty masks; or collect wild sage, rosemary , thyme, basil and licorice, that grows spontaneously here and gives its name to the place. I am looking forward to welcome you in Glikorizo!
