The house worked for us because we were college students escaping the Napa fires and it was better than being homeless. The house itself is dirty and dusty. The couches are broken and dusty. You can’t even sit on them because all of the springs are stabbing you. The windows are covered in dusty blankets. We had to buy a duster to clean the kitchen, and cleaning spray to clean the bathroom. It was terrifying to use the shower. The WiFi code was wrong so we didn’t have WiFi for hours before she responded. It was worth is for the circumstances, but I’d never stay there again. Random dogs kept hanging around the house and streets nearby, so it was not pet friendly because we were worried of those dogs attacking ours. Items from previous guests were found in the house such as a pacifier. The house stinks of pee. One of the mattresses smells like it was peed on. Mold is growing all over the bathroom. It’s not ideal unless you have no other choice.

I wouldn't recommend anyone stay here. Very bad neighborhood. House is extremely old and just not in good living conditions. Back door was barricaded by a bed frame. Just not some where I would send anyone.

Rachel was an awesome host she messaged me a few days before my trip to let me know how I can get inside the house and where to get the key. She also was very accommodating towards my sister and I since we both had two little babies. She had two fans left for us in the house to help circulate the air. It was always very refreshing that she had cold water left for us in the fridge. I would definitely recommend her house, if your looking for an affordable place in Stockton this is your place!

DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE!!! This is an extremely run-down home in the middle of a slum. Looks like it could just fall apart any second. There is no A/C, which meant it was unliveable during the summer, when the temperature in Stockton is always in the 90s. The house is so old that you can't even open the windows to try to cool off. It's also right by the railroad, with trains pass by constantly with their loud horns. We stayed for about two minutes before deciding to sleep elsewhere for the night. We felt extremely unsafe staying in the house and in the neighborhood. If you book this room, just know that this is what you're paying for. There is a difference between a "basic home" and a nearly unlivable one.

Response from Rachel:
She didn't stay here... Read the person below that did. She didn't read the listing and was mad that there wasn't an ac. She saw the price and booked without seeing why is was so cheap. This listing is for budget minded travelers . This is an older home built in 1905 with character and I have it priced accordingly. I had 3 other rentals with ac that she could have booked but this is a whole house 1200 square feet for 70$ a night. She was alot meaner than what she said here and there are no vacancies in the neighborhood on this older part of Stockton so alot of people are accustomed to living in older homes built in the turn of the century. I understand she was younger than the man that gave great reviews that stayed before her but she didn't have to be cruel when she only stayed for 2 minutes and was explained very clearly that there would be fans and cold bottles of water for her in the fridge and that seemed to delight her before she arrived. I've had this rental for over 5 years.
