Rustic Spring House on sheep ranch. 68 acres to roam with stream, ponds, sheep, horses, donkeys, and chickens. Enjoy the life of a shepherd, within three mile of a quaint college town and home of Jimmy Stewart and 30 min. from Smicksburg, an Amish community.
It's very reminiscent of a true Scottish BnB with North Country Cheviot Sheep and Border Collies.
Breakfast is served in the main farm house. It’s a delicious seasonal farm to table meal.

The space
Roam the farm, sit on the back porch of the farm house. Two upper rooms and lower spring house room. Bridge and pond.

This is a farm so you should bring appropriate footwear. Please only drive on gravel areas.

This is like glamping! We have a composting toilet so you might have some slight odor.

We have other rooms in the farmhouse if you’d prefer a place with regular toilets and air conditioning.

Guest access
Enjoy the back porch, family room, or pond for coffee in the morning, and the breakfast nook. The entire Spring House. Please only go into barn with a staff member. Please don't feed the animals.

Other things to note
We make farm to table breakfasts utilizing our free range eggs and in season veggies as well as our natural grass fed lamb sausage and free range pork.
Or if you’d like a lighter breakfast we also serve lovely yogurt parfaits to eat here or to go. We bake our own scones too.

I'm a Christian writer, artist, illustrator, shepherdess, & aunt. I love the people, animals & land I've been given to care for. The rich history of Burnhead Grazings is enveloped in a love for God's creation. Dr. Gib and Emmy Lou McLaughlin purchased Burnhead, which is Gaelic for the head of the stream, from William H. Stevens and upon their death gave the property to Moire Bridges. The once pasture for Hilltop Dairy's cows became a pasture for sheep. Gib and Emmy had been in search of land for years after getting their first border collie and falling in love with the Shepherd lifestyle. Gib trained dozens of border collies to work the sheep and did hundreds of demonstrations highlighting the herding abilities of the collie across the country. Their love for Scotland and the border collie took them Scotland on many occasions. Burnhead Grazings is a snapshot of Scotland, "in bye" or close to, the beautiful college town of Indiana, PA. Less than three miles from downtown, and within minutes from Amish country, it is amazing that this respite still exists so close to civilization. Gib and Emmy's daughter, Moire McLaughlin Bridges and her husband Randy have endeavored to bring the sheep back to Burnhead Grazings and to continue the family tradition as well as to share in the experience. They are producing lamb, wool for spinning and felting, and hay and are opening up the farm for small events such as weddings or family reunions. Moire is also the author and illustrator of a children's book available for sale on iBooks called Sissy & The King. In November of 2014, with the help of Hilltop Baptist Church and many others, they began hosting an event, LIFE Nativity, the weekend before Thanksgiving, which benefits Life-Way Pregnancy Center. Moire is also a fine artist and gives classes on wool felting. Ask about signing up for a class or book a private felting party.
