Enjoy our secluded home located on a dead end road in the middle of a Michigan hardwood forest. Although extremely quiet and private, we are located 5 minutes from downtown Traverse City. Property borders on Hickory Hills, a city owned ski resort. During the summer, enjoy hiking and biking trails, take a short drive to beaches, gourmet restaurants, wineries, or walk up the hill behind the house to play Frisbee golf. Take a little longer drive to experience the world renown Sleeping Bear Dunes!
Access to your beautiful accommodations is via a flight of outdoor stairs and onto the large deck leading to your private entrance. The deck is a unique design on two levels made of Brazilian teak and has a weathered look that blends in nicely with the native plant landscaping. Although the deck is large and safe with adequate handrails on edges and stairs, it may not be safe for very young children due to the stairs and elevation of the deck. It is also not handicapped friendly.
When you are on the deck enjoying the outdoor experience, you will only hear birds and sounds of nature. There are no close neighbors to interfere with your privacy or enjoyment of Mother Nature.
Once you enter, you will see all of the custom woodwork, cabinets, and flooring that make this experience unique. This home was built by a master woodworker who owns an exotic wood import business. You will be amazed at the quality of workmanship that has gone into making this home one of a kind.
The large kitchen, master bedroom, master bath and living area is on the deck level. The second bedroom with a king bed is up a flight of stairs to a loft room where you feel like you are in the treetops. The master bathroom has a large soaking tub and separate large shower and is all finished off in fine woods and tile. The twin sinks give each master bedroom guest an area of their own. The second bedroom has a 1/2 bathroom and is on the loft level.
The kitchen is well stocked with all the kitchen essentials you need to prepare a quick bite or a gourmet meal. The dining area has a glass top round table which seats 4 to 6 people. The living area is directly adjacent to the dining room. It has a very high ceiling with skylights and the large windows around the room give you a lovely view of the hardwood forest.
The quest will enter a series of stairs to a private entrance.
Interaction with guests
I am usually available most times, I like to check my clients in if possible to make sure they are who they say they are. Also, I like to make sure that they find what they need and if they have questions.
Other things to note
Pet(s) live on the property- a 12- year old Boston Terrier, Emma. And a 4-year old Black German Sheppard, Dex. Dex is quite huge for a Sheppard and may look intimidating, If you are afraid of large dogs, please let me know and I will kennel him up or put him in his outdoor pen. He roams my 27 acres and is pretty much protecting his turf. He loves to play stick and chuck-it ball.
