The space

A beautiful alpine chalet within Vallee D'Aulps, close to Morzine and Avoriaz, within the Portes Du Soleil area of the Rhone-Alps. The chalet sleeps 6-8 on a self-catered basis in 3 double rooms, and gives immediate access to some of the best skiing in Europe.

Chalet Brochaux is a modern chalet, built in appreciation of the history of the surrounding local architecture, and is divided up over 3 floors, including a basement area and garage.

The top floor of the Chalet offers 3 double bedrooms. The master room has a king size bed with direct access to the bathroom, the second bedroom has a queen bed with a balcony, and the 3rd bedroom has the option of twin or a double. A family bathroom serves all 3 bedrooms with a separate shower cubicle and bath. For additional guests another two people can utilise the double sofa bed in the lounge on the ground floor.

The ground floor is home to the lounge with patio doors leading to the double decking and breathtaking views of the Vallee D'Aulps and the opposite hamlet of Seytroux, the dining area, and the galley kitchen with breakfast bar. The kitchen is complete with fridge/freezer, microwave, oven, ceramic hob, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer (in the garage).

Also on this floor is a convenient additional washroom, and access to the garage and basement areas, perfect secure storage for skis, snowboards, bikes and even your car if you wish. Underfloor heating is provided through the entire living area on the ground floor.

Outside of the chalet is ample parking at the front entrance, and offers easy access to the garage which can hold one car. From the double decks at the valley side of the chalet, the views are unparalleled, and the garden captures sunlight from early morning right through to sunset, all year round, it truly is an idyllic setting to enjoy the large alpine rock garden the chalet offers.

Le Biot is a small village in the Vallee D'Aulps, and offers the perfect location to visit the beautiful surrounding areas, whether on foot, bike, or skis!

The area is well known for both winter and summer alpine sports, so please click on the pages related to your chosen season to see what is on offer around the Rhone-Alps, and more specifically the Portes Du Soleil area.

Highlights in the immediate area include Lac Montriond, , Abbaye D'Aulps, Col Du Corbier, Roc D'Enfer, PDS Ski area, Morzine and Les Gets villages, and Les Linderets.

There are many places to ski within close proximity to Chalet Brochaux. Not only is there the beautifully peaceful satellite resort of Roc D'Enfer at St Jean D'Aulps, but most notably the huge arena of the Portes Du Soleil, the largest pisted ski area in Europe!

Portes Du Soleil Ski Area

The Portes Du Soleil ski area is vast with 650km of pistes across 12 resorts over France and Switzerland. Morzine and Les Gets are tree-lined beginner havens. Avoriaz and Crozets have some of the best snowparks in the Alps, Europe's first Burton Stash and a halfpipe. Powder hounds will love the Hauts Forts and the easily reached powder fields in Lindarets and Chatel. The area is so huge, of course there is something for everyone.

For our guests, the best points of access for the PDS is either of the Morzine lifts which are 12 kilometers from the Chalet, or our favorite, the Ardent lift on the outskirts of Montriond.

The Ardent bubble offers free parking, and is usually much quieter than Morzine. This uplifts skiers to the Linderets bowl, where skiers and boarders can choose the wonderful runs in this area, including 'The Stash', or further uplift towards Avoriaz, or over into Chatel, or even straight into Switzerland. It really is the most central and best access point in the whole domain, and is not even 15 kilometers drive from the chalet.

Another access point to the Portes Du Soleil is Les Gets, which also has the quiet Mont Chery side, popular with local skiers on busy days. From Les Gets you also have great access to the Nyon and Ranfolly areas

Roc D'Enfer Ski Area

For a quiet days skiing, you can also try St Jean D'Aulps, which is a small ski area around the Roc D'(website hidden) Jean D'Aulps is 4 kilometers from our Chalet, and the lifts are another 2.5kms beyond the village (total distance from Chalet to lifts 6.5kms).

Due to its quieter nature, Roc D'Enfer is perfect for families and beginners, and also for the powder hounds who cant find fresh lines in the larger PDS area.

We are fortunate to have the winter bus stop only 200m from Chalet Brochaux. There are plenty of buses to suit all schedules into Morzine, which is a scheduled journey on the bus of 25 minutes. Buses returning in the afternoon are almost every 30 minutes, and run until after 7pm.

Chalet Brochaux is a charming place with beautiful views. There are a few walking opportunities on the doorstep with much more to see and do within a reasonable travel distance. I would advise to take a car as the buses are quite infrequent and not particularly pram friendly as they are a coach style. The odd driver would help get the pram on and off, and if you asked nicely, sometimes they'd stop at the end of the road to save an uphill walk from the bus stop through the village at the end of a day on the mountain!! The chalet is warm and comfortable for 6 people, we found 8 a squeeze but was do-able for a few days. We stayed for a month in the ski season and the area is amazing with lovely secluded, quiet areas nearby as well as busy, lively areas with apres ski 20 mins up the road. Something to bear in mind is that luckily we took our our boot driers, otherwise we would have struggled to dry our boots as the garage was too cold for anything to dry. The only bar in the village does amazing pizzas on thurs, fri and sat (everyday in Feb) and the locals are all very friendly. The hosts were very accommodating with any requests and always quick at getting back to us.

We enjoyed an absolutely fantastic week in Paul and Louise's chalet- cannot recommend it highly enough. The value for money was astonishing, and everything within the chalet was exactly as described. The location is great- in a peaceful little village with a superb patisserie, but easily commutable by bus to the wonderful Port du Soleil ski resort, where my party and I spent most of our time! The only recommendation I would have for improvement would be the installation of wifi, but I appreciate that this can be difficult to obtain in a remote alpine area (so we were forced to have real conversations with eachother!). Absolutely wonderful holiday, thanks in the most part to this super chalet and it's lovely owners. Thank you, if we return to the area we will absolutely make a return visit to your chalet! Best of luck for the future :)

We had an excellent time at the apartment. Everything was nice and clean on arrival. The deck behind the apartment gives a nice panoramic view of the valley. The street where it is resided is a dead end and is very quiet. The apartment has all we (2 adults, 2 small children below age of two) needed for the summer holiday. The sleepy village of Le Biot is very nearby (5 min walk) and has a lovely bakery. Contact we had with the owners was pleasant, to the point and with quick replies. Upon request they made a baby cot available which was much appreciated.

We had a great stay at Paul and Louise's chalet in Le Biot. We were given very comprehensive instructions for how everything worked and as a result it was easy to find and set up. Quiet little village with a wonderful croissant supply as described. It suited us to stay somewhere a little bit away from the action and was great to have generous parking for our van and space to store and tinker with our bikes. I think your own vehicle is a must. Not having Wi-Fi is a bit of a rarity now and there was no info about where we could find it so that would be our only small grumble. Our roaming charges and the time difference back home to NZ meant we were a bit out of the loop for that few days.

Dear Kirsten, We are very glad you enjoyed the chalet, and appreciate your valuable feedback. Whilst we have been trying hard to get wifi installed at the chalet, its valley location has proved a little tough to get this over the line, but appreciate that we could have helped more in the welcome pack to assist you during your visit; we will amend for sure. We wish you safe travels home and thank you again for your stay. Regards Paul and Louise

The chalet had everything we needed, we were a party of 6 and ate in most nights. We ate once at the armand restaurant in the nearby town of St Jean d,aulpes which was recommended by the owners, and it was worth the visit and very reasonable. Le Biot is a small village we ate at the local bar/restaurant on our arrival and had wonderful food. Fondue/omelet and kids burgers. Each day we collected breakfast from the boulangerie which was fantastic - opens at 7am. We skiied portes du soleil mostly based at morzine as we had 2 kids in ski school and needed to drop for 9:30 Ski was fantastic so late in season. We drove down so had the convenience of having a car there for every day use. The whole area is so beautiful we would consider a summer holiday for walking and enjoying the food

We had a fantastic vacation at the chalet. The place is beautiful and the description on the website is accurate. We found the chalet very clean and well equipped. The village is small and sleepy, but the bakery in it is great and it is located only a few minutes drive from more touristic villages, including Morzine - the perfect destination for mountain walks and summer vacation. The only thing we missed was wifi, but being offline for a while wasn't so bad at all:-) I wish we could stay longer...

My wife Louise and I, have spent a collective 50 years in the hospitality and leisure industry, culminating in current high positions with 5 star resort hotels.

We started snowboarding a few years ago, and after our first skiing trip decided a place in the mountains was what we wanted! After spending only a few days in the Portes Du Soleil, we purchased Chalet Brochaux in summer of 2013!
