The cottage is located on part of the "seven mile miracle" which hosts the world's most premier surfing competitions including the Super Bowl of wave riding- The Vans Triple Crown of Surfing. Our home is only steps to a beautiful uncrowded beach and two great surf breaks! Off street parking included! We pride ourselves in keeping a very clean home!

The space

Beach towels are provided to save you space in your luggage. Coffee in the AM to help you get over any jet lag ;) Laniakea (turtle beach), Sunset Beach, Pipeline, Ted's Bakery, Shark's Cove, and Waimea Bay are a short 5 minute drive or LESS away. We are 10 minutes to Haleiwa town for shopping and restaurants. Only a few steps to our neighborhood beach with a great surf break right out front for surfers and sheltered swimming area for others.

Our yard which the deck overlooks has been lovingly landscaped by us and it is filled with fruiting citrus, pineapples, ginger, hibiscus, jasmine and plumeria. If you are lucky to be staying with us when the night blooming jasmine is in bloom then you are in for a real treat! :)

We live on the property but have our own entrance, living space and own bathroom. We do utilize the kitchen for preparing meals so you will see us there! :) We really try to give guests as much privacy as possible and let you dictate how much interaction you want.

Ceiling fan, "vornado" fan and amazon fire TV with Netflix app in each room. Spacious closet with hangers to help you organize.

The guest bathroom is shared with the other guest room. Guests may have a private bathroom some nights if the other room is not occupied. This happens probably 50% of the time.

Our home was built in 1952 and has all the charms of "Old Hawaii".

Guest access

Guests have access to the kitchen for preparing snacks and light meals, the main living area of the house, (we have a private living space in the back) and a spacious deck area for lounging or dining. Private off street parking is included. (Rare for budget accommodations in the area!!)

Interaction with guests

We do utilize the kitchen for preparing meals so you will see us there! :) We really try to give guests as much privacy as possible and let you dictate how much interaction you want. We're happy to give recommendations on adventures to have and things to eat!

Amy and Lawson were not there during my stay but their aunt Laurie hosted me and she was fabulous. We got along quite well and would share a coffee in the morning and chat about my visit. As a solo traveler, I appreciated the conversation and company! Something I love about Airbnb is staying in a real and fully equipped house such as theirs. It is kept very clean and though not brand spanking new, it is comfortable and well-equipped. They have lovingly renovated parts of the house with plans to do more in the future. There is a beautiful garden in front and a small lawn. They live in a semi-private space in the back of the house; guests have two guest bedrooms (shared bathroom), a full kitchen, a comfortable patio & garden with outdoor shower. They also have TV but who is watching TV while on holiday in Hawaii?! Note that there is no AC but at this time of the month the nights were cooler and I was very comfortable with just the ceiling and one additional fan. If you are sensitive to noise the proximity to the highway might disturb you...being from the city, I am not. They also offer beach towels, snorkel gear, toiletries if you have forgotten and lovely coffee in the morning. (There is a Foodland about a 5 min drive away & a lot of excellent food trucks). There is wonderful beach access on the other side of the two-lane Kamehameha highway. This beach runs in both directions for miles and you can easily stumble over turtles sunning themselves as I did! There is a also a charming parrot across the way. Amy, Lawson and Laurie went above and beyond to help me when I lost my way during a hike and with their assistance I was able to navigate myself out! (On this note, really use caution when hiking the meandering trails of Hawaii and do not do what I did). Amy & Lawson have also thoughtfully provided a massively good list of their personal recommendations. I took them up on a few-- a Catamaran sunset sail which was gorgeous; sushi at Banzai Sushi (really good!), the Elephant Truck for Thai food, and the Ehukai Pillbox hike. All excellent. There's actually a ton to do on the North Shore and I barely scratched the surface. I am a timid swimmer and I found the beach closest to the house to be a bit rough (remember in the winter that these beaches are known for incredible waves), but not far away (walking distance) is the very tranquil Waimea Bay beach as well as the valley. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend their place to anyone who is looking for great value in a convenient location on the North Shore and also wants to experience the personal touch of caring and thoughtful Airbnb hosts.

This was my first stay on the North Shore of Oahu and staying at Amy's was a great introduction. I was able to catch the bus from the airport to the place directly from the airport and used it to get around while there. I also rented a bike and surfboard and cycled. I found that you can't take a surfboard on the bus, so I mostly surfed at Gators which is right across the highway from the house. A decent wave, not too crowded, though the rocks can be intimidating in larger swell. Waimea is also just down the road, and foodland and food trucks are close by. The room was clean and comfortable and had it's own TV. There is a great deck out the front, an outdoor shower and hammock. A great place to enjoy a relaxed stay.

Lawson and Amy have a very nice cottage, clean, well decorated and welcoming. We could feel that the owners take car e of their house. It was nice to be able to make coffee in the morning. Lawson helped us with the luggages and him and Amy were available to answer our questions and give us recommendations. The only little problem we had was mice in the attic just above our room. One night, we could hear some scary noises! But Lawson took care of the situation. What we liked about the location was that we only had to cross the street (watch out for the cars that go fast!) to be at a beautiful little quiet beach and where we were able to see the sunset. You can't really walk to get to the place where all the restaurants and shops are, but it's a few minutes drive. My boyfriend and I would recommend to stay at Lawson and Amy's cottage. It was a very nice stay. And for dog lovers, you will benefit from cuddling Scout, their charming dog!

My wife and I stayed 5 days with Amy, Lawson, and Scout and we had a fantastic time. Their house was great. It was in a super location, clean, and everything we were looking for. Lawson and Amy were super hosts always willing to chat and provide suggestions on where to eat. The beach and turtles across the street was amazing. We would love to say with Amy and Lawson again in the future. Thanks Guys!

We absolutely loved staying with Amy, Lawson & Scout :) Their home is beautiful, clean and perfectly located. We enjoyed our days exploring the North shore with stunning beaches great for snorkeling & even jumping off cliffs! There was copious amounts of food options from finer dining to gourmet food trucks along side beachy shopping boutiques. Lawson generously offered morning coffee to kick off a productive morning :) all in all it was the perfect start to our vacation. Thanks a million!

We loved staying at the Cottage! Scout was obviously a big hit, and seeing turtles right across the street our first night was a big perk! We all had a BBQ on the weekend which was nice to get to know him his friends and the other guests a little better. Would recommend this place to anyone! The north shore is doable by bus and foot but would suggest a car for easier access to various beaches and towns. Can't wait to come back in the big wave season!

I love living in Hawaii and try to enjoy an active outdoor life style. Daily walks on the beach and enjoying the surf when possible are just a few things that make this place so special.
