The space

Apartment in Calle del Sol residential building in the heart of Historic Downtown.
Calle del Sol Residential Building
This name is not an advertising gimmick; it is the original name of 12th street, between 3rd and 4th avenues, where Calle Venera (3rd avenue, between 11th and 12th streets) and Calle del Campo (3rd avenue between 12th and 13th streets) converge.
In short, this building was a priests’ school, a cloistered convent, a survivor of the "Bogotazo" and headquarters of the Colombian Intelligence Service (SIC). It was then intended to house the National Archives, and afterwards it was the legacy of neglect, to eventually blossom as this beautiful residential compound of Neo-Gothic architecture.
Its resemblance to a medieval fortress is highlighted by a central courtyard called Gotham Plaza.
It is a unique location, created to last in the memory of whoever has the privilege to dwell in its fertile womb.
Everything else begins where everyday life ends, that is, after closing the door, lighting up the fireplace, pouring a good glass of wine and inquiring about the outcome to the fortunate masters of this dream turned into architecture, because the Calle del Sol residential compound... exists!

Guest access

The building has two 24-hour porter lodges with personalized service and CCTV.
Community hall, gothic garden with lawn for BBQ and outdoor receptions.
Laundry room with washers and dryers, parking, covered visitors parking and two elevators.
The apartment is a duplex, with an area of 947 square feet (88 m2). We are in the process of furnishing it; it is missing some pieces.
It has a beautiful view of the Monserrate mountain to the east, and the dome of La Candelaria church can be seen to the west, as well as an interesting elbowing of roof tiles from downtown houses and buildings.

This was the second time that I've stayed at Ana Margarita's apartment in the Candelaria. It is clean, spacious, quiet, and very accessible to both tourist attractions as well as downtown libraries, bookstores, and universities. Ana Margarita is a wonderful host, who responds immediately to any and all queries. I'm looking forward to my next stay here!

This is a beautiful apartment in an historic building in La Candelaria convenient to all the things to see and do there. It is well secured and a peaceful retreat from all of the hub bub near by. Ana Margarita left us some breakfast food and brochures of museums and other tourist sites in and around Bogotá. If you are going to Bogotá as a tourist, this is the place to stay.

Ana Margarita's apartment was very comfortable and located near a handful of major sights in Bogota (note however that you should be careful walking around the area at night as some of the streets can be quite deserted). Thank you for the lovely stay!

Amazing location, beautiful building and the apartment is very cool. It's clean, the beds are comfy and the facilities are good. Ana is a great host and very accommodating. The only drawback we found is that we had some difficulty sleeping as there is noise from the surrounding buildings and the windows aren't covered so light comes in. Overall it is a great place and I would stay again.
