This is a very cute space in an interesting neighborhood with many nice cafes and restaurants nearby. I stayed here while attending an academic conference, and it was perfect for my needs!

Caroline & Michelle are wonderful hosts. Welcoming, excellent with communication and the flat itself is truthfully represented in the pictures, for me, the location was perfect. Just far enough away from tourist heart to be more authentic. It was clean, well lit in the bathro…

HI Rem I'm glad you liked the apartment and felt well looked after by us. I'm really surprised and sorry you didn't feel safe. We've had over 100 people stay here now (including many single people) and not a single person has said they feel unsafe. In fact, it's one of the hippest areas in Paris, the Canal St Martin. You only need to (Hidden by Airbnb) the area to find out that this is true. Full of young people. I don't know where your friends were from, but it does make me laugh them saying it's a bad area because it really is one of the most highly sought after "real" Parisian neighbourhoods for young people. It's become so "bobo" (bourgeois bohemian is the nickname) now that most of us actually can't afford to live there. A lot of young, well to do families with kids are living here. I suspect it was quieter on the streets - it's normally really buzzy and interesting and fun - because it's August and many businesses and restaurants and cafés are closed for summer holidays so i can imagine that being a little daunting but certainly not unsafe. The building has light sensors on each floor. It works from the moment you step into the building and they light up on each floor. I suppose most of the building has also gone away on summer vacation so that would have felt rather quiet too. I'm sorry about your experience someone grabbing your arm on a street (not the street the apartment is on). I would not have been comfortable with that either but I can honestly say i've never experienced anything remotely like that in 5 years of living here. I know you are a very nervous and inexperienced traveller as you were terrified just catching the metro in Paris so I suspect a neighbourhood filled with your fellow countrymen will feel safter for you rather than a real Parisian neighbourhood that can sometimes show the grittier side of life as well as the beauty of this city. That's why we love it, it's such a wonderful mix but mostly it's a super friendly very lovely neighbourhood on the canal where young creatives live, work and play. PS The Champs Elysées would definitely fit the bill for you next time I think. It's only tourists, no real French people, but be careful because it's only the naive tourists who go there to get robbed blind by the awful eateries along the boulevard and robbed literally by thieves that are en masse there to steal your wallets.

Susan, it was a pleasure to have you in the flat, the neighborhood is my absolute favorite in Paris with the canal and all the creative energy with pop-up stores, young entrepreneurs, very led-back indeed. I am delighted you had a good time. You know where you can stay when you visit Paris again. Thank you !

Check in was easy. The place was comfortable, clean, and central.

Response from Caroline&Michelle:
Thank you for the feedback Brigitte. I only have the one duvet because I assume guests will push it off and just use the sheets if it's really hot. I have bought a great fan actually now which would be helpful. But today of course it's back to being cool enough for the duvet. Always the way.
