This room is one of the two bedrooms in the cottage. This cottage has a common living room and a fully equipped kitchen. The cottage is surrounded by mountains, Jungle, tea garden and the property is boardering a beautiful river with many waterfalls. The estate main waterfall is just 5 minuets walk from the Cottage.
This is a nature lovers paradise.

The space
Our place is a two bedroom cottage with attach bath, open common living area, kitchen and a outdoor BBQ area. Each room is around 145 square feet in size. Both rooms are equiped with two twin size beds ( 48 inch X 62 inch) in each room. Both bathrooms are equipped with warm water showers. We provide the bed linen, blankets, cutlery, plates, cups, glasses, all nessasarry saucepans, dishes. The kitchen is equiped with kettle, stove with gas, refrigerator, BBQ stove & rice cooker. Rates given is without any meals. WE DO NOT PROVIDE BBQ charcoal for the BBQ stove.

Guest access
Guest can access Five private waterfalls, natural pool and the oldest stone statue in Sri Lanka called Galapitagala All these are located within our private property area.

Waterfall No.01 Just 5 minutes walk from the cottage
Waterfall No.02,03 & 04 Access is via a 45 minutes nature walk up hill. Can be a bit of a challenge. The foot path is by mountain edge. Not recommended for children or elderly persons.

Natural pool is located near the 4th waterfall.

Galapitagala (The stone sculpture) has been confirmed by the archeology department of Sri Lanka to be a man built stone sculpture more than 5000 years ago. 60 to 80 minutes hike uphill across a foot path with tall grass.

Sri Lanka's tallest waterfall Babarakanda waterfall is located 5 km away from the cottage. Accessible via vehicle or walking.

Paddy terracess Beautiful paddy terracess can be found within 1 km from our property.

Adhisham bungalow Old stone bungalow view led by many. 21 km from the cottage. Open for the public on weekends only. Accessible on bus, car or tuk tuk Soragune temple Ancient temple in the area. 12.5 km from the cottage. Accessible by car or tuk tuk.

Dutch fort A fort built during Dutch occupancy in Sri Lanka. You can see the leftover foundations of the fort. Accessible by vehicle and then walking.

The Lipton’s Seat lookout
The Scottish tea baron Sir Thomas Lipton used to survey his burgeoning empire from here, and today it's said you can see across emerald hills and tea estates to no fewer than seven different provinces. 33km from The cottage.

Horton Plains National Park is a protected park in the central highlands of Sri Lanka  and is covered by montane grassland and cloud Forrest.

There are two roads to get there from our cottage.
Option 1.
Horton plains via "Devils Staircase"
Just 28km from the cottage. It's a very beautiful scenic route. But this is a 4x4 route. Normal cars and vans can't go on this road. Lot of my guest go in a hired 4x4 vehicle, cycle or hike on this route.
Option 2.
Horton plains via Haputale and Boralanda
49 km from our property. It's a good road that any vehicle can go on.

Other things to note
No Wi-Fi connection.

There will be a 300 meter nature walk from the car park to the cottage.

Only mobile phone coverage is provided by the service providers Etisalat & Mobitel.

This property is a 48 acres in sizes and Wild life may be present at times. All activities within the property are of the guest own risk. The management will not be liable for any injury or danger caused to guests from means of wild life or nature.

Galapitiyaya Estate is a organic tea & pepper plantation located in the foothills of Haputale, Ohiya & Babarakanda. Blessed with many natural beauty's including five waterfalls ranging from 11 meters to 3 meters in height. Also the famous stone sculpture dating beyond 5000 years Gala Pita Gala is also located at the border of the property. This sculpture was mentioned in a book "Lost City of Z" by Lieutenant Colonel Percival Harrison Fawcett the famous British geographer, cartographer, archaeologist and explorer.
Also the tallest waterfall Babarakanda waterfall (263 meters tall) is also located 5km down the road form Galapitiyaya Estate.
The property is situated at the edge of the village with no disturbance from the village. Also there is a beautiful paddy terraces near our property. We have a river and a stream flowing down hill from two sides of our boundary. Drinking water is provided by two of our own natural springs. Love the cool climate. I just love to spend time here.
