Mai's apartment was cozy and quiet. While we didn't get to meet Mai on this trip, a friend of hers checked us in and gave us all the necessary information. The apartment is a short walk from public transportation and from the main bus station (ZOB) and because the neighbourhood is quite pleasant, we found ourselves walking nearly everywhere in the city. All in all, a great three days in Munich!

I unfortunately never got to meet Mai in person. However, Mai was very helpful and friendly over email and text. The room was clean and comfortable. I would definitely suggest others to stay here!

DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU DO NOT SMOKE. The listing says no smoking allowed, but Mai's roommate smokes inside the apartment and the whole apartment stank. I had to quarantine myself inside the bedroom and leave all the windows open even though it was cold outside and it's at ground level so everyone can see in. All of our clothes stank after our stay as well. The other main issue is the window shade in the bedroom is broken, and the note about it was not posted by the window cord, so we didn't see it until it was too late. So, we were stuck with the shades in the open position all night long, with everyone able to see in and with streetlights shining in all night. We tried everything but could not get the shades back down. Other smaller issues are the place was not so clean (open clothes drawers, some dirty clothes shoved behind furniture in the bedroom, unclean toilet seat, empty soap container, dishes left out in the kitchen), the location was noisy from street traffic until about midnight each night, and the bed was very squeaky when you moved. My husband and I were able to solve this to some extent by sleeping in opposite directions on the bed to counter balance the weight (we are not heavy people). If you like to cook, be aware that there's no microwave or can opener (our fault, we should have asked). On top of everything, it really upset us that Mai never responded to any of our concerns or inquiries, either after checking in or after we left (we never met her in person). It's been about a week and a half so we finally decided to get AirBnb involved to help resolve the situation.

Response from Mai:
Dear Rachel, Thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately I can't agree to most of your complains. 1. First of all the allowance of smoking inside the flat is not defined in my airbnb description. None of the other guests complained so far about a "stinky" flat. But I will adjust my description that it is allowed to smoke only in the kitchen. If you that sensible than you should maybe ask before. 2. About the window shade, there was a note just in front of the window on the table about the window shade. If you would have follow the instructions on the note, you would have recognized that it isn't broken. Every guest so far was satisfied with the simple explanation on the note. 3. About the noisy street. You decided to stay in a apartment in the inner city. Of course there will be a few cars even after 10 p.m. Suburbs would be more silent. ;-) 4. Squeaky bed: Well, it is a normal bed from ikea. Me and my boyfriend sleeping there every night, with our heads in the same directions and we sleep very well. 5. In the discription of the flat (Section: Additional Anmenities) is pointed out that there is no microwave. Also we have a manual can opener. 6. Answering rate: Before you arrive at my place I gave you the number of my flatmate and told you, that you can contact him, if you have problems, because I was in the Norwegian outback. In generell i think that the average of all my Rankings (except from you) speaks for themselves. If the whole airbnb concept couldn't fulfill your expectations of a nice and convenient spot in the inner city, I recommend you to book a hotel room for your next visit. Wish you all the best. Kind regards Mai :-)
