This is my great grandfather's house. There is a row of four houses that were once one big home. My house is on the end and it is full of family memories .

It has a large airy and light livingroom, a small kitchen and bathroom and then on the first floor a large bedroom and nice little balcony which is a lovely spot to take tea

The space
On the ground floor there is an entrance hall, a large airy living dining room with fireplace a small kitchen and cantina and also the bathroom. On the second floor, there is a large bedroom and a little balcony of the hall with a sweet view across the veggie garden and a glipse of the lake. The front door and balcony were added in the Baroque period. If you like history and staying in a real Italian home, this will be perfect.

It's in Regolo, a small traditional village above Varenna which has many beautiful footpaths so it's perfect for walkers.

About a 10 minute walk away there is a shop that's open every day, 2 bars, one with spectacular lake views and a pharmacy.

I'd be more than happy to give you some tips on the local area so you can get the most from your holiday.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Location

Perledo, Lombardia, Italy

Regolo is a small traditional Italian village perched on the mountain above Varenna. It is very peaceful, surrounded by little vegetable gardens, olive groves and wonderful footpaths to explore.

About a 5-10 minute nice walk away, you get to Perledo another small village with a shop, a couple of bars (one with a stunning view) a pharmacy and a cash point.

The viandante- this is a historical footpath that runs all along the east side of the lake and through the village. It has stunning lake views

Vezio Castle - a nice 20 minute walk away is this small castle with wonderful views. There is a small restaurant in the village

Varenna is one of the nicest villages on the lake with many cafés and restaurants. It's a 25 minute steep uphill walk to the apartment. There is a train station in Varenna with trains to Milan Central Station and also a ferry port for boats around the lake

It's perfect for guests who like exploring, for walks, there is the Viandante which goes all the way from Lecco to Colico at the top of the lake, it goes through the village and so you can easily pick it up, there are instructions in the apartment to walk towards Bellano which takes about an hour and a half but you can keep on walking back from there. The trainline runs along the lake on this side, so you could take the train back to Varenna when you've had enough. Here is some information: http://www.lakecomo.it/en/excursions_and_trekking/il_sientiero_del_viandante

On the other side of the lake there is the greenway, it's not too challenging but a nice 10 km walk along the lake, it is clearly marked. It starts in Cadennabbia and goes beyond Lenno so you could get the boat to Cadennabia, and boat back from Leno (where there is a great ice cream shop), Here is some information: http://www.lakecomo.it/en/excursions_and_trekking/green_way_del_lario

In Cainallo, up the mountain from the village there are many possible footpaths, from up there you get wonderful views across the mountain tops and the mountain range le gringe, which takes about 2 or so hours, on a clear day from the top you can see all the way to Milan. It's rather difficult to get to without car but you could take the bus which goes from the bus stop just 1 minute from the apartment to Esino here is the timetable: http://www.leccotrasporti.it/upload/orari/estivi/D21.pdf and then either walk ( around 40 minutes), hitch hike or get a taxi.

Another option is to go to Vezio, which is a little village (follow footpath signs) about a 20 minute walk from the village, from there go to the higher carpark and from there take the footpath via caravino, towards monte fopp and you go to Ortenella, this is a steep walk, it takes around 2.30 hours.

There are many footpaths near Bellagio too, have a look at this website for details.

Finally, there are many footpaths from the village, Regolo which you can follow and just go off and explore.

Buongiorno a tutti! Grazie mille Maurizio e Beth
