Nearly a century old, children call it “The Witches House” and we haven't changed it's magic. A mezzanine provides the main bedroom, a little window overlooks the lawns. Downstairs is a log burning stove, a sofa/double bed, and all facilities needed. French doors open to a patio over the river and woodland views. Kingfishers zip past from time to time. Across the lawns is the lake and its wildlife. A serene, secluded and special place. 40 minutes from London and you're in another world.

The space

Very comfortable king-size bed in the mezzanine (ladder access), and the sofa converts to a king-size bed too. Bed linen and towels are provided. Mains water and electricity, electric hob, fridge with small freezer compartment, microwave oven, kettle, toaster and all kitchen utensils in place. First basket of firewood included. Loo and shower room is en-suite. Up to two extra adults or children are permitted to stay overnight in their own tent nearby for the supplementary charge of £15 per person per night.

Guest access

You are welcome to wander around the gardens during your stay, but please respect the residents privacy (as they will respect yours). There are several public footpaths which run through our farm including the Kingfisher Way which is a long distance path.

Interaction with guests

Someone is always around to assist if needed.

Other things to note

The parking place is about 100m from the house across grass which can sometimes get a bit wet and muddy. A wheelbarrow is provided to carry your stuff. The house has a good mobile communications signal with all networks which is almost certainly much faster than any wifi we could offer.

Beautiful location, very cosy and romantic. Highly recommended. Woke up to snow falling, and a visit from a fox across the lawn as well as the peacocks, ducks, geese, swans and squirrel's.

We had a lovely time in this super cozy house! Richard's son Hugo was a great host, he helped us with the fireplace and was extremely sociable. Definitely recommended if you're looking for a relaxing weekend in the countryside ;)

A fabulous place away with nature. A fabulous dog friendly location. The owners are very lovely and helpful. A newly refurbished property that was really lovely. We spent one night there and loved the wildlife, and the river nearby the property. Fantastic views. Great facilities - a true home away from home. Great bathroom with lovely shower. Great cooking facilities. Absolutely lovely log fire. We will definitely be back!Lovely walks in the countryside nearby, but not far by car from the main road - not that you would know that it was there. very peaceful location.

Nicky looked after us well. It is a cute cottage in secluded location by a river and a wood.

This little secluded house is what dreams are made of, every window has a unique fantastic view, even when up on the mezzanine bedroom. I rolled over to look out the window and had a fantastic view of Orion’s Belt up in the nights sky. It has everything you could need and a lovely bathroom and shower. The fire burner had us mesmerised. This little place is so cozy and warm with the fire burning. It was lovely to curl up on the sofa with a drink and lights dimmed. The grounds surrounding are beautiful with the subtle sound of the river running you truly believe you are in the woods with nature. We will definitely be returning and we’re very sad to leave. Our only regret is not booking for a longer period. Thank you to Nicky who was fantastic host and made us feel so welcome, we hope to be seeing you again soon.
