E komo mai (welcome) to Kalapana. The destructive volcanic activity has come to a end and so it’s a great time to lace up your shoes and start exploring newly hardened lava up and down Hwy 137. Four check points that kept public viewing impossible are now open for the world to see and experience. Newly open Pohoiki beach park, Mackenzie and Kahena beach are black sand beaches you must see and feel to appreciate, pack a cooler and bring your camera for this once in a life time experience.
