Nine Mile Farms Outreach presents this dreamy take on off grid glamping.Located on Marrowstone Island make it base camp for exploring Port Townsend, the Olympic peninsula & coast. Many island beaches and parks to enjoy with sunnier sky’s thanks to the infamous "banana belt". Unplug in the truest sense of the word with no electricity or running water. Tent is set up for 2 additional sleeping options for up to a total of 9 available when you rent the entire property (message me for details).

The space
The "tent" is a simple wall tent with waterproof canvas tarp style walls and zip entry void of locks. repurposed pallet board crates make up the wood flooring. A king size bed (made up European style-no top sheet, 100% cotton bedding topped with a lofty down comforter), night tables, dresser and comfy seating are some of the furnishings. Lighting is provided via battery powered string lights above and two bedside table camp lamps, bring head lights and or flashlights to supplement. If there are three in your party the generous size couch can be made up for the 3rd wheel and a curtain can be drawn between the two sleeping spaces providing a measure of privacy.

Onsite regularly serviced porta potty available or follow the trail behind the tent under a cedar tree canopy to the a private bucket style forest toilet. Flush toilets coming soon! Roast s'mores on your private brick patio in the fire ring -burn ban permitting- for accurate info please call or go to the county (Jefferson) website for up to date fire code. Firewood is provided free of charge.

Just steps from the tent locate a classic style pic-nic table for eating, food prep and games as well as fire pit and a basic outdoor kitchen set up with single burner camp stove requiring butane fuel. A gravity fed style sink (no hot water and nondrinking) faucet, dish soap, ample space for cutting, preparing and eating. Also provided; dishes, utensils, French press, skillets, sauce pans, bowls, mugs, cups etc. As well as salt pepper, coffee, tea, sugar. We recommend all eating to be done outside to discourage critters from sleeping quarters.

There is no heat so pack accordingly as evenings can get chilly. Meditate, do yoga, read a book, write a book!, knit, or sit back and enjoy a beer if that is what you wish.

Guest access
PLEASE READ AS THE LISTING IS PRIVATE BUT THE PROPERTY IS SHARED WITH ONE OTHER RENTAL
Tent access is drive up & the road is well maintained until the last turn where it does narrow, follow signs marked “9 mile”. Expect some pot holes, rogue weeds and sticks, however you should not need 4 wheel drive to access. You can park right in front of the sleeping tent, walk a few feet to the patio & inside. Land is raw, ungroomed, wild and natural

A couple solar lights illuminate the paths in the evening, but coverage is limited and a flashlight is advised. Arriving with some daylight is also encouraged as to familiarize yourself with the layout. The entire 5 acre property and its trails, paths, road and portable toilet (serviced regularly by Goodman sanitation) is SHARED with another Airbnb rental located in its own private setting. Garbage and recycle bins are provided, please clean up after yourself and leave the space as you found it.

The entire property is use at you and any of your guests own risk, one of our only requests as landlord is we do ask that you sign a waiver/release acknowledging this.

Other things to note
Nine Mile Farms glamping tent experience is not for everyone if you are uneasy without your wifi, lights, running water or really any modern day conveniences (there is okay cell phone reception), or on the contrary if bugs make you twitch or the quiet makes you nervous this may not be your cup of tea. Be honest with yourself, does this listing sound intriguing or terrifying? if the latter please rethink before booking.

Please understand that the camp is a work in progress, undergoing constant improvements & various projects may be underway during your visit. We try to keep it tidy but realistically that just isn't always possible.

What we truly hope, what our vision from the beginning has been is that all our guests enjoy a unique, peaceful, handcrafted experience that brings each individual that much closer to our planet, respecting her maybe just a little bit more. Nine Mile Farms hopes to provide you with a moment or more of tranquility and a fulfilling escape from society. Feel free to hug the trees.

A stop into the Nordland General store, is a must, if you have the time a stroll down the dock completes the visit. If your a shower a day person, Fort Flaggler ( 5 min. drive up the island) has full service public restrooms complete with showers (bring some quarters) flushing toilets, and not a bad view of the straits and Port Townsend. If Laundry is something you find yourself needing, Port Hadlock has a fine one, situated next door to the QFC market. Throw in a load and head across the street to the "Valley Tav" for the best veggie burgers around! no joke.

Nine Mile Farm Camp sits peacefully at the end of an intentionally underdeveloped short plat. The property is made up of over 5 acres and is heavily treed with Grand Firs, large Western Red Cedar, Big Leaf Maple, Alder, Doug Fir, and many other native shrubs including edible berries such as huckleberry, salal berry, salmon berry. Micologists (mushroom hunters) are sure to find the treasure they seek growing fruitfully in these forests. Neighbors live symbiotically with the land, many are without electricity or city water as guests will experience as well.

Please be conscious of the surrounding area and its inhabitants, animals and humans alike respecting normal quiet hours within reason.

During your stay
We are happy to greet you upon arrival and give you a small tour to familiarize yourself with the alternative off grid systems, and layout. If this is something you would like please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate. We emphasize that the property is yours to share in its entirety for both you(tent) and the other rental (sleeping hut)renters renters alike (and in the interest of full disclosure an occasional owl, deer, forest mouse, mosquito, bee, spider, snail, bat or slug will undoubtedly make an appearance).
