This peaceful retreat is set back from the road and surrounded by 10 acres of forest. It's the perfect spot to unwind and relax. Renovated with recycled windows and doors, it is the ideal mix of rustic and comfort. If you are interested in getting a partially off grid tiny home experience, this is it! As one of our guests recently stated "This place is magical!'

The space
Sunny Rock Cabin has everything you could want and is surprisingly roomy for it's 500sq ft. (280sq ft on main floor). It is the ideal retreat for a couple.

The river is deep, weed free and amazingly quiet. This often makes for a serene swimming experience -think 7am skinny dipping with a coffee waiting on the dock. It's cottage life perfection! A canoe and paddle board are available for river adventures or a short paddle out to beautiful Pickerel Lake.

The lower bedroom is cozy, packed with charm and has just enough space for a comfy double bed. It's large picture windows allow you to awake to the the sights and sounds of nature. The spacious loft is like 'sleeping in a tree house' with beautiful views over the forest. It is 5'10" at it's peak and offers a queen, single and double beds.

The best feature of Sunny Rock Cabin is the luxury outdoor shower with on-demand heated water. It has an optional ‘peek a boo’ forest view for those that really want to connect with nature! Altough we don't have running water inside of the cabin we leave clean jugs for guests with a source to refil. There is also a quaint outhouse down the path. *please note that the shower is only operational when there is no danger of frost which is generally June- October.*

The trails are 'Algonquinesque' with a long staircase wrapping past beautiful rocks.

The trail to the waterfront is approximately 400ft long and takes about 4 minutes at a leisurely stroll. Because the cabin is elevated, the top section of the trail leads down a set of stairs. It is flat and well groomed from there but this rental is best suited for guests who are sure footed.

The woodstove and electric radiator will keep things warm during the spring and fall. Firewood (for heat only) is built into the fee. Guests are asked to bring their own outdoor firewood.

This wonderful spot is nature at its best. Some of our neighbours include moose, beaver, and deer. There is good cell service at the cabin but without wifi, some might enjoy a digital detox. In a pinch, it is usually possible to hot spot.

Where you’ll be

Burk's Falls, Ontario, Canada

Sunny Rock Cabin is located 15 minutes from the quiet town of Burks Falls which offers a River Walk, groceries, LCBO, Tim Hortons (wifi) and movie theatre (seasonal). Both Algonquin and the bustling town of Huntsville are 30 minutes away. Some of the hidden gems in our area include, Crystal Cave, Screaming Heads of Midlothian, Riverbowl, High Rock and fall wagon rides at Copeman Tree Farms.
There are two sandy public beaches directly on Pickerel lake. Each is a short drive from the cabin.
Some of our guests might enjoy an afternoon of playing golf or grabbing something delicious from the Burks Falls Welcome Centre and bakery -which makes seriously good treats! Guests can also borrow a bike from the WC and take a zip around town. A trip to the Copperhead Distillery is always a fun outing. They produce hand crafted spirits, wine and cider from local organic fruits and grain. Call ahead to see if you will be there for a free sampling afternoon!
