Great location
100% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
Come experience the Old West as it lives on in the tiny town of Dubois. We are located 2 miles from downtown, in an utterly private and cozy 100 year old log cabin. Out front-a long, private span of the Wind River great for trout fishing. Kids (and the kid in you) will love riding the tire swing and roasting marshmallows over the fire pit.

The space
Welcome to the West. The first thing you will notice, after you settle into the cabin, is the resounding silence. And in that quiet you will begin seeing the wildlife out front of the cabin. You might see our resident Great Horned Owl or a Bald Eagle jousting with an Osprey for the Brown Trout 100 meters from the deck. We think it takes a few days to relax into this world, and for that reason, as well as COVID, we require a 5-day minimum stay.
The cabin is 100 years old— updated with modern amenities. The kitchen is currently being modernized (no pictures yet) with a dishwasher and disposal. There are 3 rooms, each separable by accordion doors. The master bedroom with en-suite bath has a comfortable, queen bed, IKEA duvet, and 100% cotton sheets. The kitchen/diningroom has a 7 foot table of reclaimed wood, perfect for wildlife gazing out the front with binoculars, which we provide for you, or for tying flies for your guided fishing trip.
The kitchen has all necessary cookware, which are sanitized between renters, toaster, coffee maker with Wind River Coffee, spices and cookbooks. The step-down TV room has a full size fold-out sofa and wonderful wood stove with a fire laid prior to arrival. Cable & excellent internet, of course. Each of these rooms can be closed off from the rest. Additionally, there is a small laundry room with washer and dryer and all necessary soaps and softeners. The deck out front is a special spot for a glass of wine in the evening or breakfast before daily exploring. And for the kids there is a fire-pit by the river with a rope swing nearby.
The whole space is approximately 750 square feet and is luxurious for 2 people, quite comfortable for a 4-person family, and accommodating for 6 people who don’t need as much privacy. We charge an extra $15 per night for a 3rd bed (full-sized IKEA) to be brought into the kitchen/diningroom. And please tell us how many beds you require.
Many guests make day trips to Yellowstone, Grand Teton and the bustling, glitzy town of Jackson. Closer to home, Dubois has the charm of a 1950’s Western Town. And for those wanting to get out into nature-the possibilities are endless. Whiskey Basin, 10 miles from the cabin, has hiking views of glaciers, petroglyphs, trout streams, and in the winter, Bighorn Sheep. The Badlands, 1 mile from our door, open out into 10 miles of painted cliffs before getting to the Absaroka Mountains. Horseback riding can be arranged into the Painted Hills. You would not be making a mistake to stay right here.
We invite guests to let us know what their special interests are in order to leave appropriate information in the cabin upon arrival

Where you’ll be

Dubois, Wyoming, United States

The cabin is an oasis of nature five minutes from downtown Dubois. Families of Canada Geese raise their young in the yard and pasture next door. Bald Eagles, Sandhill Cranes, foxes and the multitude of deer roam the yard and the river out front. Petroglyphs, hiking, fishing and mountain walks are within 10 miles. Yellowstone and Grand Teton are a day trip, as is Jackson Hole, the glitzy cowboy Mecca. Cross-country bicyclers stop for the night in town, as well as current day cowboys, wetting their palate after a long day running horses. Dubois is a taste of the old west.

Andy & I are empty-nesters who have relocated to Wyoming to fly fish, hike and be outdoors. Welcome to our world.

During your stay

We are not fishing guides, but since we fly fish most days, are available to share what is working for us. My husband welcomes fishing conversations and I, myself, am full of suggestions. But only if you ask. We live across the driveway (about 150 yards)and are ready to help when needed. Or not!
