This place was cheap! $12USD/night. However in trade you get an under or not air conditioned house. The sheets and pillows are of the thin polyester type. Mattress was in good shape, not too soft not too firm. There are roaches, mostly in the bathrooms and climbing the walls in the bedrooms. Bath tub drains slow, you have to clean the tub prior to showering as hair and dirt are left behind from the previous user because the tub drains slow. However a bush and cleaning foam where near by. Exterior doors that have been closed and nailed shut to turned into walls have 1/4" gaps allowing bugs in from the outside of the house. Holes in the wood floors also allow bugs into the house. Wood floors are weak and give way with steps. It feels like you could fall through the floor at any time. Did I mention it was only $12 USD/night? This is cheaper than tent camping. Every house on this block but three have been demolished. I did not even complete my week there. It was just too damn hot and humid in this house! Air conditioning is either broken or cannot keep us with the demand. So hot you just lay in bed and try not to sweat. It has ceiling fans but they are the cheap Home Depot type that go around in a circle, however do not seem to actually move any air at all. There are no hooks or a place to hang your stuff in the room with the bunkbeds. It would be a good idea to have lockable foot lockers or some kind of storage, at least a hook to hang up some clothes. But it was $12 USD/night. Maby a better experience in the winter versus summer.

Eric was always quick to respond to messages, which is great. The house was as-advertised. I slept in the dorm room, which is hostel-like. 6 bunk beds in 3 bunks. The beds were fine and clean. Although it would have been nice if it had a sheet besides a comforter. As long as you are aware of what you are purchasing here, its a good value

Driving through Birmingham from NYC, needed a quiet place to reset for the night. The hosts were prompt with reply, helpful, and friendly. Had a full kitchen and hosts are VEGAN-friendly! Had a very nice stay.
