The property is a fully self-contained downstairs apartment in a near-new two story house on the Toowoomba Escarpment, about 10-15 minutes from the CBD and less than 3 km from Preston Peak Winery and Preston Manor. The hosts live in the upper story.
The secluded location offers panoramic views over Tabletop Mountain and the Lockyer Valley
The price includes bread, cereal, eggs milk etc for guests to prepare in-house breakfast for each morning of their stay, plus coffee, tea and some drinks.

The space
The host owns 80 acres of escarpment land and this is available to guests. There are 4WD tracks - not all that adventurous -walking trails and a couple of good picnic areas. The host will be pleased to show guests around. However, it's important to note that the escarpment is not pristine rainforest but rather medium eucalyptus forest with lots of rocks and lantana, not all that scenic. And for hiking, all the trails lead down so you have to walk back up again. Still, it has it's attractions and the wildlife includes wallabies and kangaroos, echidnas, scrub turkeys and the odd dingo.
In winter, the site is well-sheltered from cold westerlies but does cop some strong easterlies in summer.
The kitchen has a freestanding stove, large fridge, microwave, the usual electrical appliances and Nespresso capsule and dripolator coffe makers.
Tap water is good and there are no restrictions on reasonable use.
The host will supply some basic foodstuffs - enough bread milk, eggs, cereals etc for breakfast for each day of stay and some tinned and frozen food and instant noodles etc for informal meals. All condiments, tea, sugar, coffee are supplied. And some beer and cask wine.

Guest access
There is undercover parking, a patio with a gas barbecue and a charcoal Weber and patio and lawn seating.
The apartment has a 42" TV with inbuilt PVR, BluRay player and Apple TV with a Netflix subscription. Free-to-air reception from Brisbane is good. Wi Fi is reasonable, about 10Mbits. Mobile reception is ok.
Guests may use either a double bedroom with queen bed or a single bedroom with two king singles. Extra guests up to 4 can be accommodated at $40 each and, in a pinch with the sofa bed, up to 6 at an additonal $25 each.

Other things to note
Pets are welcome provided they are well-behaved. We would prefer not to have large energetic dogs inside the house but mini-foxies and the like are ok.
Wallabies and kangaroos often come up around the house to feed and water and we prefer that dogs be restrained from chasing them. We do realize that this can be a big ask though.

Location

Preston, Queensland, Australia

Preston is a rural-residential area and most of the residents commute to Toowoomba to work. The area is quiet and the nearest neighbours are over 70 metres and away and the houses can barely be seen through the trees.
