Where you’ll be

Steep Rock, Manitoba, Canada

Feel free to feed the chickens your scraps. There is also a friendly dog on the farm who will willingly eat the bones. Enjoy the hammocks (without shoes please). Remember, the hammocks are not to be used as swings. Feel free to use the bush trails and explore the countryside, make a small bonfire in the evening and see the stars!

Hi! My name is Peter, and I am raised right here a short drive from Steep Rock. I love hosting people who come and visit the area, and many have become good friends over the years. And I love travelling too!! I especially enjoy meeting people, learning languages, art, music, construction, the outdoors, adventures and photography. I take a special interest in other cultures and learning about them here, and especially while I travel in foreign lands. Although I have only used Airbnb a few times as a guest, I have been honored to have been a guest in peoples homes all over the world. As a traveler, I understand what I need to do to be a good host. As rural communities all over Canada often have been dying out due to lack of work, I decided to stay local, and work as a local entrepreneur; promoting the area and inventing my own work. I used my imagination and ideas to create work, attractions, activities, and other things that provide people with a reason to visit the area, even acquire properties, move here and help populate a sparsely populated rural area...even if its just for weekends. I first started as an entrepreneur in 2001, when I fixed up broken canoes from the garbage dump, so that people could rent them at a local campground. Soon afterwards I acquired kayaks, paddleboats, and eventually started my own business in Steep Rock in 2008. Starting a tourist driven business when there were almost no tourists was especially challenging! To attract people to the area, I started to accommodate visitors with places to stay in 2006, and now continue to do so using Airbnb. Although it took years to put Steep Rock on the map, its been a rewarding experience! Steep Rock Kayak has now been operating for 13 years, and continues to provide rentals, food, souvenirs, tourist information, and merchandise including products from South and Central America... and continues to make people feel like they're in a foreign destination! I will do whatever it takes to make guests feel welcome and comfortable and have been very actively trying to attract people of as many cultural backgrounds as possible to the area. I hope you enjoy your stay! And as almost everyone that comes and visits... see you next time!

CELL SERVICE IS UNRELIABLE. So please email:)
Someone is almost always around to offer assistance or answer any questions, and I live on the same property, about 156 acres...almost 7 million square feet.
