Great place - close to the beach, on a patio and affordable. Well maintained and Lois was great to communicate with, and really attentionate. One small thing: the main bed is comfortable, but bouncy, so can be a bit challenging for two people if, like me, shaking wakes you up :) I ended up sleeping in the sofa bed while my husband slept in the main bed. Still, definitely recommend, esp for the location and the price.

This condo is in a very good location at a very good price, Lois was great at communication - very responsive to messages and easy to contact - and we had a great time in La Jolla and San Diego more generally. Those in the surrounding condos were very welcoming and our kids enjoyed the pool and leafy surrounds. As might be expected for the price, the condo is not perfect. It does not let in a great amount of light, my wife seemed to have asthmatic reactions triggered by dust (or perhaps hair left by a pet), and the house has many nice ornaments in it which are accessible to toddlers (fortunately our children were old enough to look but not touch!). We recommend it for those who do not have allergies and are looking for an inexpensive base from which to enjoy the many outdoor delights that La Jolla (and San Diego) has to offer offer.

This unit is an example of the risks one can sometimes encounter when using AirBnB. 1) Upon entry to the unit, the immediate sense was one of smell -- namely, a pungent moldy smell that persisted and made us two nauseous as our 2.5 day stay went on. Not sure where it comes from, but the renter really should clean it up for her own sake, let alone for those renting it. 2) The smaller restroom's sink faucet doesn't work; 3) No afforded closet space for hanging suits, dress shirts & slacks. Per renter's suggestion, I had to move her own clothes onto her couch to make space for hanging ours - NOT very professional, nor hygienic; 4) The street location is hazardous vis-à-vis oncoming southbound traffic on Torrey Pines Road, where cars zip by faster than some may have response time to move out of guest parking. 5) Very dark unit, even with fan light & lamps on. Little natural lighting. Overall, the inside climate/air made the stay very hard, nay, hazardous to dwell in. This unit is a health hazard that should be reported to the health department's coding unit, and most definitely should not be available for commercial transactions on AirBnB or elsewhere.

Response from Lois:
This man is totally off the charts with his review. When I communicated with him during his stay he told me everything was fine! 1) I have been living there for 3 years with many visitors, airbnb and personal, with two different ones right before him, and none of us smelled any odors or detected any mold or must. My place was extremely clean, and smelling fresh. 2) The small restroom sink DOES work, if he just asked me I could have told him to just pull it a little harder. 3) I never advertised empty closets being available, he shouldn't have even looked in my personal closets. I had 5 hooks on the back of the bedroom door to hang things from, and an empty drawer. How much closet space did he need for 2 nights? 4) Yes the building is on a busy street but I pull out into the street every day as do 64 other units tenants. It's not that hard. 5) My unit is on the ground floor and has many beautiful trees around it, so it does tend to be darker then usual inside. If this guest just opened the curtains of the big sliding glass doors, quite a bit of light would have come in. There is no way that this is a "health hazard". This was obviously this guests first time using airbnb (member since July 2013) and I would advise him to get a room at the Hilton next time if he wants empty closets and better lighting, but I am sure they'll be on a busy street too.

I love loving here near the beach in La Jolla. Some of my favorite things are playing board games, and doing outdoor activities such as beach and BBQ's.
