We follow Airbnb’s enhanced cleaning protocol, which was developed with expert guidance. Here are a few highlights:
- sanitise high-touch surfaces, down to the doorknobs
- use cleaners and disinfectants approved by global health agencies, and wear protective gear to help prevent cross-contamination
- clean each room using extensive cleaning checklists
- provide extra cleaning supplies, so you can clean as you stay
Should you need any assistance or further information there is a comprehensive Info Guide inside the lodge as well as contact numbers should you need us!

Front stable door opens onto hallway with pamment brick flooring and steep paddle staircase.

Stylish corner sofa with a large flat screen TV, DVD player, bluetooth speaker & DAB radio. Dining table with two chairs.
Bi-fold doors open onto a sunny decking area with outdoor light, seating along with picnic table/benches overlooking the small orchard and fields beyond. In the living/dining area there is also a wood burning stove making those chillier months much cosier.

Comfortable wooden-based double bed with deep 'Tempur' mattress which aids independent sleeping. There is space to hang clothes and a chest of drawers as well as a wall-mounted flat screen TV. There is also a small electric personal fan for those warm nights.
Ensuite bathroom with bath, hand basin and WC. Mirror with light and electric shaver point. The bath has a mixer tap with handheld shower attachment for use whilst seated. Not to be used as a standing full shower as water pressure will only allow cold water to flow in its fully extended position.

Where you’ll be

Old Newton, England, United Kingdom

Staying in the lodge offers the chance to take walks on the small country lanes and footpaths which are on its doorstep. Located in an area of gentle rolling countryside which is mainly arable farming land. At certain times of the year farming activities such as ploughing, harvesting, bird scaring etc take place, this is a delightful backdrop to the rural scene to many of us but we realise it won’t be the case for everyone. We are very lucky to be located in such a peaceful area, but sadly can’t guarantee total silence.

The nearest village is Old Newton (3 minutes by car) where there is a small village shop as well as a great Chinese takeaway! Nearby, the picturesque village of Haughley has a post office, convenience store, Indian restaurant, great traditional bakery and the fabulous Kings Arms public house. The small town of Stowmarket is ten minutes away offering a wider range of shops, banks, supermarkets, cafes and the Museum of East Anglian Life. The market town of Bury St Edmunds is 25 minutes away and great for shopping, culture, theatre, cinema, gardens and award winning restaurants and cafes.

After holidaying in Suffolk for many years, we have recently relocated to this picturesque sunny county. Our children have now grown up and flown the nest, so when we get the time we love to travel and visit new places both in the UK and abroad, many of our locations have been booked through Airbnb. We also now want to share this lovely area in which we live and rent out the adjoining lodge to our cottage. We look forward to meeting new visitors and helping them get the best from this charming location. We enjoy gardening, walking, cycling and looking out for the abundant wildlife both in the garden and fields beyond.
