Stately c. 1897 Colonial Revival Mansion only steps from downtown Lexington. Historic Elegance over three floors covers 5,800 sq ft. Four bedrooms, 3.5 baths, elegant dining room and a kitchen that is a cook's dream. We do live here with a cat.

The space

Our home is literally one of a kind. Designed by leading architect H.L. Rowe, three years were spent planning and building it with every modern convenience of the day, including lighting that had a unique gas and electric configuration to keep reliable gas, but to use the latest technology, which was electricity. No expense was spared and a total of $ 18,000 was spent. Subsequent owners were not as flush as Mr. McCain, who built it for his family. This turned out to be a blessing; over the next 8 decades very few changes were made. We found original woodwork that was never painted, ceilings that were never dropped, pocket doors that, while they were locked behind walls by shag carpeting, were never removed, and chandeliers hung exactly where they were placed in 1897.

We bought the house in 1999 and replaced all of the electrical, plumbing, HVAC, roof and brick mortar while preserving every possible original detail. The result is a like-new house with historical elegance.

This house is a true gem. Great location that is easy walking distance to good restaurants and even downtown. Teri is a great host and could not have be easier to deal with. There were gifts and treats for us. She had great local recommendations. We had so much fun and a large part of that fun was the fabulous house. Thank you so much.

Wow what a beautiful home Teri has! You will not be disappointed with your stay. She has thought of all the special added touches to her home that makes each room so unique. It is centrally located so getting around Lexington is quite easy. There are eating places close by that we walked to and walking to the downtown area is a piece of cake. Thank you so much Teri for opening your home to us we loved the time spent there. Hope to be back soon!!

The home was everything we hoped and more! Central location to all of the best hangout spots in Lexington. We enjoyed the house and it's beautiful decor and historic feel like stepping into the 1890's though with a modern kitchen thankfully! Teri was a gracious and helpful host. Hopefully we can visit again soon.
