WOW! Las Terrenas is PERFECTION. Emil is a super host for a reason! His place is perfect: close to the beach, steps from the pool, family-friendly yet quiet and relaxed. There really is nothing I would change about our visit. We are a family of 5 - mom, dad and three daughters (18, 16 and 10). There was just enough space for all of us to be comfortable. With the apartment being ground level and SO close to the beach and pool, we were all able to spread out and go where we wanted and still be close enough to keep an eye on everyone. Be prepared to pay $20/each way for a taxi ride to the local Super Polla for groceries. Be efficient to save money and MAKE A LIST! We ended up needing to go twice and also asked Negra to pick some things up for us (who, by the way, is awesome!). If you don't speak much Spanish, be sure to download the English/Spanish translator (a version you can access offline since wifi can be spotty in places!). Towels, ample beach chairs/pads, and tables are readily available at the beach. You can also use the Stand-Up Paddleboards, kayak and body boards for FREE. No outside food or drink is allowed at the pool or along the beach at the resort. I wasn't crazy about that. They do enforce it. They serve drinks from the bar and only allow those. I did bring my own YETI with water and no one stopped me, but I didn't dare do more after I saw a few patrons be asked to discard their food. Traffic/motorists are INSANE. We toyed with the idea of renting a car at the airport. I'm SO glad we didn't. We paid $200 for car service each way using Emil's recommended company. It was expensive, but worth it. The driver had wifi and made our ride very enjoyable. Plus we had 10 pieces of luggage that we didn't have to cram in a tiny rental. We found delicious brick oven pizza at Ocean Grille - two resorts down and walkable by beach. We also took the beachfront horseback riding excursion as well as the National Park day-long excursion. DO BOTH! We had SO much fun!! We will be back! We probably won't be back to Punta Cana after discovering Las Terrenas! Emil is a wonderful host. This place is a treasure!

Thank you so much for making our trip a wonderful experience. It was seamless and we felt right at home. The feel was that of a luxury hotel with the comforts of home. Hope to do come there again.

Emil's home is everything you need for a relaxing weekend in the Dominican Republic. The property is clean, quiet, and a perfect stay for families. I spent Mother's Day Weekend at Emil's with my mother, grandmother and aunt. We truly enjoyed the space and time we were able to spend together in Samana. Aside from the beautiful apartment and pristine beach, Negra would have to be our favorite moment of our stay. She was incredibly warm and inviting. Truly the cherry on top of a perfect trip.

Just the right size and comforts for a beach apartment. Love the privacy and the quiet without feeling isolated.

Emil's place is wonderful! You will not regret booking this home. The size was perfect for our family and the treatment we received from Negra as well as all hotel staff was wonderful. We will truly miss Negra's excellent cooking. Her ceviche is famous but her homemade ice cream is the real secret. I was traveling with my husband, grandmother and two small children. I was new to the DR therefore the following is for information purposes only. The most important thing to know is this hotel is called sublime because they like to keep it relatively quiet. You will not hear music at the pool and there is no special event days with live music or activities. Not bad or good just important to know if you are accustom to taking part in group aerobics or other items when on vacation. Also you cannot drink the tap water. Emil makes sure you have a large container of water for cooking and drinking but this is important to know if you are accustom to resorts with private water systems. We arrived late and the hotel staff did not mention this. It was the rain season so many of the following items will not be significant unless you are traveling at this time. The mosquitos were bad and we only saw one day of sun. None of the pools are heated and there is no jacuzzi other than at the spa. The jacuzzi at the spa is not heated and they have no steam room. Again only an issue if you are there in November but This was a big deal for my husband after 20 hours of traveling. Let me close by saying I would return again. Everyone in my family left feeling like they had a second home here. The hotel staff is impeccable. They pride themselves on customer service and it shows. I left items outside which would normally be stolen anywhere else. The hotel staff picked up my items and had them at the front desk. The staff is trustworthy, helpful and meets every detail. Negra runs the house well and will make sure your every need is met. Please tip her well. She will never ask for it but completely deserves it. She is the best to go through for any items or special services such as childcare. She will find a reasonable rate and a trusted friend. You will never have to worry about anything with her there. She is meticulous and showed my children and Grandmother loving care. This trip we had rain all day for 6 days but it was still a relaxing blessing thanks to Negra and the wonderful hotel staff.

Emil User ProfileEmil is a superhost.

My name is Emil, I was raised in the Dominican. Republic. I own and operate my own business. I went to an American school in Santo Domingo and after graduation studied marketing at INTEC (TECHNOLOGICAL INSTITUTE OF SANTO DOMINGO). I currently live in Santo Domingo.

I am managing this property because I love this area. I have been coming here since I was a child and finally decided to have a place here. Its just a 95 minute drive from where I live and my kids love it.
