A nice farm style house. Small but very cosy - we enjoyed the fireplace. Everything was very neat and perfect for our one night stop over. The lounge was my favorite spot- nice long sleeper couch to relax on and read by the fire with some tea. Next time will definitely stay longer

Response from Melanie:
Hi Bridget Thankyou for your kind review. I am so sorry about the slow WIFI. Having reported the problem, it seems as if it affected most of Elgin Valley. I hope Lance has recovered from his illness and that you are safely back in Plett. Kind regards

We enjoyed a peaceful night in these well located and very beautiful maintained and hand worked wine farm. Expect to be warmly welcomed by your hosts and their lovely doggies. Enjoy their excellent vino and the kitted out lovely cottages. It's 1.5km from Peregrine farmstaal which means that apart from a novel there is really nothing else you could need. Thank you for having us!

This little cottage (Acorn) is just perfect! As a self-catering option you will find everything you need in the exceptionally well-stocked kitchen, and spacious cottage for 2. Mel has added such great little extras and touches - she thought of everything - French press for coffee (and coffee for it stored in the fridge!), and even a cheese knife for when you want to indulge in a platter with a bottle of wine. A bottle of each of Belfield's award winning wines are available in your cottage (please note that Belfield kindly provides and "honesty box" for payment). And you don't need to go far for those extra bottles you will want to take home - do ask Mike for a wine tasting, sharing of farm stories, understanding the simple aspects to wine-making, or delve into the depths of Mike's extensive knowledge and experience of wines, wine-farming, and wine-making. The cottage is clean, neat and tidy, tastefully decorated and comfortable. The bedroom is cosy, bed very comfy, and on cold winter nights there is a fireplace in the lounge, warm blankets and a heater, or if you prefer to sit outside - create a small bonfire to warm you. The bathroom (only a shower, basin and toilet) was spotless, towels/soap/tissues etc. provided, and piping hot water for your shower. Mel was so hospitable and gave us all sorts of ideas on places to explore, things to do and current special activities (ask her about move night at South Hill, or where to get a good massage, or how to get to the MTB-friendly wine farms). Mel is a perfect AirBnB host, and her cottage is a true example of "getting it right". Last but not least, take time to sit on the patio under the massive trees, relax and enjoy, or stroll around the farm itself to see the vines and indigenous gardens. The dogs are super friendly and will come to visit if you allow them (don't feed them!). Wishing you all the best Mike and Mel!!

What a lovely little cottage. Melanie was very welcoming and accommodating of us needing to check in a little later than usual. The cottage has everything you need, is very comfortable and is situated in a wonderful setting. We'll definitely be back for a longer stay.

Melanie and Mike welcomed us warmly and the cottage was wonderful. The cosy fireplace, heater and sublime shower made a very cold weekend enjoyable. The farm is ideally located for exploring Elgin and their wines worth tasting!

Belfield is our home and our passion. We love to meet people as we find their stories interesting and inspiring. We love hosting people on our farm and try to make their stay with us comfortable, tranquil and relaxed.
We love South Africa and our favourite destination is Timbavati - next to Kruger National Park. Namibia and Botswana are also favourites. We love space, big skies and natural beauty.
While Mike is passionate about his vines and wines, Mel is as passionate about the gardens on the farm and about protecting chameleons and other little creatures.
