As featured in "The Sunday Times" Historic Georgian House with stunning views over River to Shackleton Mill. Great Irish breakfast, open fires, relaxed atmosphere. The room has a private bathroom and has a beautiful view over the front garden.
We offer a chance to enjoy the hospitality that you would expect and hope to find if you stayed in an Irish Country House. Griesemount was built in 1817 by the Shakletons who were a well known Quaker family. We have beautiful gardens which include a parterre and south facing terrace which overlooks the river Griese. Inside each room is bursting with character, our drawing room is cosy with an open fire and breakfast is served in a beautiful sunroom with magnificent views down to the river and over the valley. We can cook dinner or a simple supper if needed and can sit 10 people easily at the round table in the dining room. Griesemount is less that an hour from Dublin and Kilkenny and only half an hour from the top of the Wicklow Gap. We have a host of good restaurants nearby including Rathsallagh House and Burtown Gardens are just up the road. Do come, relax and enjoy your stay.
Our Guests have access to WIFI, television in the library or a quiet time to read, play the piano, listen to music or reflect by an open fire in our drawing room. Outside there is a terrace and large gardens with topiary and lawns sweeping down the valley. There is table tennis and a boulle set available or you can stroll down to the river with a fishing rod and try your luck at catching a trout for dinner.

I'm Carolyn, wife, mother and grandmother but still young in mind and heart. Robert and I love people and our home, Griesemount where we have lived for the past thirty years. We enjoy travelling and have lived in Zimbabwe and have family in London, France and Vienna. Robert is a golfer, mad about music and books and in the local choir. I love art and design, swimming and walking. We both enjoy good food and wine and can both cook (and drink!). We have fun exchanging ideas and views, enjoy the company of others and a good laugh.
