Recently renovated 700 sq. ft. + private apartment in a one hundred year old adobe. The apartment features one bedroom with a double size futon platform while the large living room has a wood stove and a fold out double size futon that can sleep 2 additional guests. Two full baths with tub and shower. An inflatable mattress is also available for up to two additional guests. More than two guests is $10.00 per night per guest. The apartment is not childproofed, but well behaved children over the age of 7 are welcome.
The entire apartment is simply but handsomely furnished and decorated with original art. There is a large, fully equipped eat-in kitchen and laundry area. The floors are tiled and enhanced with area rugs and the ceilings have traditional hand-hewn beams known as vigas.
Board games, books and a TV/DVD player are provided. There is no Wi- Fi at the house, but several coffee houses and the town library offer free Wi-Fi services. A long shared access portal which separates our home from the apartment provides outdoor shade and seating near a one hundred year old apricot tree in the summer months. Private entrance and off street parking is provided. We live on site and can have as little or much interaction with you as you desire.
An onsite, permaculture garden has been designed with a locally renowned landscape architect and is under construction. Depending on the season, you can share in the bounty of the garden!
Located about a block from the historic Ranchos De Taos Plaza, with its renowned St. Francis de Assisi Adobe Church, residents can easily walk to several fine restaurants as well as the church and plaza galleries. There is a bus stop and a post office across the street.
A five minute drive will take guests to supermarkets, more eateries and shops, and a visitor’s center. Conveniently located off the main road through Taos, the apartment is a less than ten minute drive to Taos Plaza, Kit Carson Park, and seasonal open air markets, festivals and events. The road also links visitors to Taos Ski Valley and Taos Pueblo, a UNESCO world heritage site.
There is a separate parking space for the apartment which has its own entrance at the back of the house. There is a private porch area with seating which faces out toward our yard and is shaded by a 100 year old apricot.
Interaction with guests
Our living space shares two thick adobe walls with the apartment. We will pursue our daily routine and you will likely see us working in the yard. We are happy to make recommendations and share local knowledge, if you ask.
Our property is generally a non-smoking environment. There are a table, chairs and ashtray on a flagstone patio about 20 feet from the door which is the only designated area for smoking.
