Janet was an amazing host, the stars aligned as I needed a place to call home for a month and her house was available. I love West Hartford, and this house is central to everything I love about the town - so close to the Center and Bishop's Corner (both great shopping and dining areas). Great price, great location and even better hospitality. Highly recommend!

Janet was a wonderful host! She was informative and helpful. I had an extended stay of 2 months and I was made to feel very comfortable. Perfect location to Hartford and downtown West Hartford.

The stay was very pleasant and Janet is a welcoming, open and nice host. I really appreciate that I was allowed to use the kitchen and washing machine. Thanks! One thing I have to mention, maybe it helps other guests make decisions: Janet wants to keep her carbon footprint low thus keeps the temperature in the house quite low. For sleeping she offers additional blankets in case you need them. Overall a recommendable (I looked it up, Janet ;) ) experience.

Response from Janet:
Thanks, Philipp. Just to clarify (for future guests), I generally keep my thermostat set at 65-67 degrees F in the winter, which I think is not unusual for New England. I am certainly willing to adjust it for my guests' comfort, and I'm sorry, Philipp, if you continued not to be warm enough while you were here. I really enjoyed having you as a guest - and now I know a new word!

My 21-year old daughter Elizabeth spent the past 9 weeks in Janet's home while she did an internship at the Wadsworth Antheneum in Hartford. We live in Atlanta, GA...not close! When I dropped Elizabeth off, I had the pleasure of meeting Janet and immediately relaxed about leaving my daughter "alone" in Janet's "care." The following review is from Elizabeth: Janet was a gracious hostess and a friendly face to come home to. She welcomed me into her life by introducing me to her neat friends, conversing with me about all her foreign travels and experiences, taking me out to musical plays (i.e. Kiss Me Kate and La Cage Aux Folles), and showing me around the city and West Hartford area. She helped me feel at home in Hartford and made my stay less lonely and much more enjoyable. I definitely would recommend staying with her!

My stay with Janet was wonderful! I stayed for 1 month until I was able to find more permanent housing after relocating to the area for work. She was extremely welcoming and helpful throughout my stay! The location is very convenient to both Hartford and West Hartford Center/Blue Back Square. I would highly recommend using Janet as a host if you are looking for a place to stay!

I am a retired Trusts & Estates attorney who recently returned from two years in Ukraine with the Peace Corps, where I taught English at a pedagogical university. Before that, I taught English for two years in Hunan Province, China. I have two grown children, one who lives nearby and one in New York City. I love reading, movies, theater, art and art history, photography, walking, and bicycling. I grew up in Charlottesville, VA, but have lived in the Hartford area most of my adult life. Five things I can't live without would be books, the internet, food, friends and family. My all time favorite travel destination is France.
