This lovely oceanfront home sits on 3.8 private acres with a stunning view of Penobscot Bay. This home is open, sunny and comfortable with water views from every room.

The space

This lovely oceanfront home sits on 3.8 private acres with a stunning and expansive view of Penobscot Bay. The ocean side of the house is lined with windows and french doors open to the spacious deck--perfect for grilling, relaxing and taking in the view. Wonderful wooded walking trails out the back door and a private clay tennis court within walking distance complete the experience. The house had a wood stove and 2 zones of heating - for chillier weather in late fall, winter and early spring. This home is open, sunny and comfortable with water views from every room and wide pine floors throughout. The house has a half bath downstairs and three bedrooms and a full bathroom (with claw foot tub and separate shower) upstairs. The master bedroom has wonderful views, a full closet and queen bed. The guest room has a double bed, full closet and a water view, and the 'kids' room has two single beds and an amazing birds eye view of the water. This house combines casual elegance with charm for the perfect getaway.

Great place! The large open first floor with all the windows looking out on the water was much appreciated. We had some nice meals at the Happy Clam in Tenants Harbor and at the General Store in Port Clyde. The house was clean, everything worked, easy entry, good location. All in all, a great experience.

This house is in a very special location overlooking the ocean, rocks, and trees. The views are just spectacular. We loved spending a week there and are sad to be leaving!

This house has a beautiful view but it is in a very remote area and too close to the ocean. We rented the house in the winter and it was a horrible experience for us. There was a storm, we lost all electricity, heat, internet and phone. The noise of the wind and the crashing of the waves beneath is a frightening experience for whoever is staying inside the house. It is also extremely unsafe to go on their steep dirt road during bad weather and impossible to get out safely either in the snow or with heavy rainfall. Also to be noted, the constant wind and crashing waves causes sea sickness in the guests because it is too close to open, turbulent waters. It feels like you are in a boat. Maybe in the summer and only during good weather you might have a better experience staying here. The house itself is small and beautiful but the host provides poor service. The towels were old, the kitchen and bathroom poorly stocked and very old, quite difficult to use properly for cooking. The heating works well downstairs, upstairs is more difficult to warm up. On the brighter side, the sheets and down comforter covers, although old, were very comfy with real cotton. The ocean of pine trees brought us much beauty with fresh aromas. Unfortunately, the description of house is inaccurate. This house should not be made available for winter. The host never described the risks associated with renting the house for the winter, especially with storms around the corner, with a house located so close to open turbulent waters. The host was unreachable during the storm and even after the storm, without any sympathy or even any compassion for his guests. Our previous experience with Airbnb was wonderful with hosts that went above and beyond in providing service and understanding the real meaning of hosting. This is the first time we picked a strict cancellation policy, which we do not recommend for anyone to ever book. If anything goes wrong, the strict policy is designed to only protect the host. Airbnb also does not take the responsibility if the host declines to refund, and you are left alone.

Imagine your absolutely perfect Maine seacoast getaway. This is it. A house all to yourself without even neighbors within sight. The ocean literally right there, in fact gorgeous views from every single one of the so-many windows in a spacious, stylish, comfortable house. (It helped that it was still foliage season.) Waking up in a plush bed to the sun rising over a pristine horizon streaming into your bedroom. That after a night of watching moon, stars, and the lights of bouys, lighthouses and bobbing boats. The warmth and glow from the glass-front woodstove taking the chill off the evening. Even the one night we had a storm breaking against the rock ledge and pelting the deck windows, we were entirely comfortable and content, the house being so solidly built and secure. Chris was immediately responsive, helpful and most accommodating throughout. You can bet we're going back! Whether to just get away and relax, or to focus and work without interruption, this is the place.

We have stayed at many beautiful places in Maine, but Merritt's home away-from-home far surpasses them all. The location above the harbor and the constantly changing views of sunrises, sunsets, lobster boats leaving and returning, birds swooping through the air and riding the waves, and the ever changing tides create a captivating canvas of memories. The house is warm and inviting and we spent much of the time warmed by the wood-stove fire, reading and enjoying the ever changing vistas. Privacy is the what you will get when you stay at this home. If you like to hike, there are several trails and a private road to walk from the house. The home itself is clean, very comfortable, and amply supplied with everything you would need. We did a lot of cooking and baking during our stay and Merritt had all the kitchen supplies we needed. We highly recommend Merritt's home in every way. You will leave with a lifetime of memories of this beautiful home and location above Tenant's Harbor!

In a perfect world I'd have stayed at Merritt & Chris' place for a month. But a week was what we had - and it was amazing! The views are stunning...just breathtaking. We didn't plan much as we'd visited St. George before and I'm so glad because we had lots of time to enjoy the house, relax on the big ocean-facing deck, cook and enjoy nature. The house had everything you'd need for making delicious meals, plenty of room to spread out, books and games and all the basic necessities. It's nestled at the end of a road, perched on a hill above the ocean. The trail down is a bit steep but you just need to be cautious and take your time. There are sailboats, lobster boats and birds galore. One late afternoon as the sun set and glinted off the buoys along the cove, it was like seeing hundreds of little fireflies dancing on the waves. I couldn't believe how different the water looked at different times of day, and loved seeing the little island off the coast rise and disappear with the tides. If you like walks in nature, the surrounding forest has several beautiful trails that are magical, mossy treasures waiting to be discovered, and were easy enough to hike with my 4-year old and late 70's Mother-in-Law. This is truly a special place! One thing to note, it's down the end of a gravel road, and it's probably easier to arrive in the daylight the first time to get your bearings as it's quite dark at night. Despite feeling remote, it's only about a ten-minute drive to shops in Tenants Harbor and Port Clyde, and 30 minutes from Rockland.

Perfect location with beautiful views. Everything was exactly what we were looking for from evenings and mornings on the deck listening to the surf to nights with a cozy cracking fire in the wood stove. Can't wait to return again.
