Interaction with guests
With extensive knowledge of the local region, the owners, Noel and Naomi Birchall, are on hand to help you make the most of your stay or, if you prefer, to just leave you to enjoy the peace and tranquility.
We discovered this part of France in 2002 when looking for a holiday home. We bought an apartment on the Canal du Midi in nearby Homps and, for the next few years, spent all our holidays there getting to know the area and all that it has to offer. It did not take us long to decide that we would like to spend a lot more time here and, in 2008, we took the chance to change our lifestyles and move permanently to the Languedoc.
When we bought Les Julianes, it was a long-disused barn in need of complete renovation. However, it offered the promise of a fabulous place to live with wide-open views of the local landscape and the possibility of offering guest accommodation too. We moved in at the end of 2010 and, since then, have been working to finish our outside areas and our guest rooms.
It’s fair to say that life in France offers many challenges, but we are happy that we made the right decision and our lifestyle has changed completely. Apart from the obvious benefits of sunshine and great food and wine, we now enjoy a varied social life with a wide circle of friends from many nationalities. Our daughter Susie is prospering in the French education system and Naomi is putting her teaching experience to good use offering language courses in French and English.
We love this area and are keen to share our passion and knowledge with our guests.
