The Barge was built in 1999 and was our family home for 10 years in Sallins. It is easy to get to by car, and by train it's only 30 minutes from Dublin city centre.
Everything you need is very close, within walking distance. Breakfast cafe, pub, barge trips, fine dining and gastropub restaurants, grocery store, walking trails, and the train station is a four minute walk.
Its also a great base for exploring Ireland's Ancient East or day tripping to Dublin.

County Kildare, Ireland

Sallins was once a busy trading harbour on the Grand Canal where barges began carrying passengers and goods from the small Kildare village in 1780. Today it is home to award winning waterfront restaurants and bars, a large variety of boats, barges and houseboats, a brewery and a passenger barge offering canal cruises in the area.
Full of surprises, County Kildare in Ireland's Ancient East will give you many excuses to linger and stay. A warm welcome awaits you across our many memorable towns and villages. Unique Heritage, stunning scenery, quality accommodation, spectacular cuisine and a world class shopping experience are just some of the attractions that await you.
From planned historic settlements to thriving town centres and canal villages, Kildare really is "the best of Ireland in one County" and is within a stone's throw of the capital.
Sallins is a great base to explore Ireland's Ancient East. Discover the magic of the rich hinterland, racing establishments and stately homes, golf courses and sporting fields, museums and heritage centres, family fun centres, canal cruises and forest walks.
