Staying with Josias and his family was one of the highlights of our trip to Guatemala. His hospitality surpassed our expectations as he walked with us around the town, explained Mayan traditions, and even arranged our shuttle to our next destination on our behalf! Our Spanish was limited, but his family was patient. The food was excellent, and his boys were very energetic and entertaining. If you are coming to the Lake, make sure you stay with Josias.

What an experience!!!! It is a lovely family of four who are all friendly and welcoming. We had a great time talking to the kids. Josias is very nice and helpful. If you want to live as a local, it is the place to go. I would love to go back there.

Josias, Esmeralda and their boys are the lovliest family ever. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Esmeralda's cooking is amazing (especially her pancakes with the homemade apple jam!). Josias took me around on a small tour of San Juan which was way more than I would've expected from a host. Had a wonderful time and I can't wait to be back! Muchas gracias por todo!

Pedro Josias and his lovely family are great hosts! We spent two nights at their beautiful guest room, and enjoyed very much their company and hospitality. They are great ambassadors of the Mayan culture, very knowledgeable and willing to share. Absolutely recommended!

Our arrival in San Juan la Laguna started with Pedro meeting us as we climbed the street from the boat launch and as we spoke with him, felt comfortable right away. Meeting his wife and children was so enjoyable, as was the next 5 nights we spent with them. We soon felt like part of the family and they part of ours! Vamos a volver! "Maltioox!" Mateo y Hermoine.

This was a great place to stay if you want to be a little off the beaten path. Pedro and Esmeralda were excellent hosts. They have a wealth of knowledge of their indigenous culture, history and the local area. Pedro was an excellent guide and language coach and Esmeralda made superb 'tipica' meals. Would stay again!

Hola, Pedro, Esmeralda, Pedrito, bebe y toda la familia were amazing hosts. They were always ready to help. Pedro also came with us to the coffee plantation tour and came with us to two small towns. He helped us organized the bus for our departure and his family is lovely. I would go back to his place any time.
