Beautiful & comfortable heritage cottage in the historic town of Prince Albert. Quiet and peaceful surrounds, within walking distance to shops and restaurants. Large garden full of fruit trees and birds. Please note that most of our guests who book for one night regret not staying longer, so we do recommend longer stays if you have the time!

The space
The Cottage is an original farm building, built in 1852. The building offers original features from this period, with a very beautiful bound latte ceiling throughout. There is an indoor wood-burning stove, outdoor weber braai, outdoor shower, and 'stoep' from where to enjoy an unspoilt view of the garden and Karoo mountains in the distance. The garden offers fruit to be plucked and eaten most of the year round. In the garden you'll find a mangoes, guavas, various citrus, quince, olives, mulberries, grapes, chillis, curry leaf, and apples. The Cottage is on the same property as The Farmhouse - both buildings are private and freestanding with uninterrupted views - but share the large garden.

Where you’ll be

Prince Albert, Western Cape, South Africa

Prince Albert really does offer something for everyone- be it stargazing, cycling, hiking, local cuisine, lazy braaing or art and architecture. Join the locals and drive out towards the Gamkapoort Dam for sundowners as you watch the sun set behind the dramatic Swartberg Mountains; take a hike in the Swartberg National Park with its dramatic mountain views, San art and hidden waterfalls, or take a cycle trail down the Swartberg Pass or along the 39km one way trail to the Gamkapoort Dam.  Spend an evening meandering through the town on a guided Ghost walk to learn about the quirky characters who haunt Prince Albert, taking in the local architecture and history on your way. There are plenty of restaurants to appeal to all tastes, and then make your way home to lie out on the lawn and stargaze at magnificent desert skies. Learn about desert flaura and fauna with guided nature and bird trails on offer, or wander at will through magnificent desert terrain. Enjoy pancakes and coffee at the Saturday morning market where you can meet locals and buy local produce. Do the Park Run and learn about initiatives to get local school children out running. Visit Gay's Guernsay dairy for award-winning local cheeses to accompany your sundowners. And don't forget the award-winning Francis Pienaar Museum, and the Prince Albert Art Gallery for a dose of history and culture.
