Set in the middle of Secteur 5, a quiet residential area, not far from the Bobo-Dioulasso city centre. A house with 5 bedrooms, a large living room, a kitchen, a studio, a garage, a workshop, one terrace and two verandas. A large garden with mangoes, papayas, bananas, cashew and custard apple trees, avocados, passion fruits and medicinal plants. Homegrown vegetables. Grocery store next door, bar/restaurant across the street. Great cuisine. Wi-fi (fee applies). ECO-friendly. Solar-powered house.

The space
The place is run by a Burkinabe-Slovenian couple, who can help you know the local culture. Built in the eighties the house was recently renovated and upgraded. Custom made furniture. Behind the house, there are two separate rooms with private entrances, an outside toilette and two showers.
Ideal for mid- and longterm guests but also for travellers who seek a time-out from their intensive West African experience. GPS-coordinates: N 11 deg, 09.954 min, W 4 deg, 17.105 min.

Guest access
Apart from their rooms, the guests can use the kitchen to make coffee, tea or occasional meal, a large living room, terraces and verandas and the whole of the garden. Very good cuisine. Freshly pressed juices and tiger nut milkshakes. Washing machine (fee applies). You can rent a bike, motorbike or a car. We partner with a very reliable taxi driver. Elitis, the best coach company which connects Bobo and Ouaga four times a day is just around the corner. Guided tours. We speak French, English, German, Italian, Djoula, Serbo-Croatian, Slovenian and some Spanish.

Other things to note
We have two cool dogs, an LGBT cat and plenty of singing birds. NO mosquitoes, you'll be perfectly fine sitting in the garden for extended periods of time.

Location

Bobo-Dioulasso, Hauts-Bassins, Burkina Faso

The neighborhood is rather upscale, green and quiet. There air is less polluted, there are fewer water shortages and power cuts (the latter quite irrelevant to us as we are nearly 100% solar powered). Preferred by wealthier locals and ex-pats. Still there are quite a few interesting public venues nearby. Bars are everywhere. Not to mention the real-deal Bobo neighborhoods like Bolomakote, Koko and Tounouma.

Fiction writer from Slovenia (ex-Yugoslavia). I left my home country at the age of 18 and practically travelled all my life since. Lived in Venice, Sydney, Berlin, New York ... I supported my life there doing various jobs like translator, interior designer, driver, tourist guide, filmmaker, photographer, journalist. From 1993 to 2000 I was the driving force behind the cultural centre "Metelkova mesto" in Ljubljana, Slovenia which is best known today by its hostel "Celica". My passions are solo sailing and the desert, especially the Sahara where I spent five years travelling in a converted ex-military truck. Good food, off-roading, literature and languages, of which I speak several, are also high on the list. Since 2012 I live in Burkina Faso with my wife Sita and two dogs. Most of the furniture in our house we built ourselves, we thouroughly renovated and upgraded the house end of last year and installed a solar system. We like independent guests, but don't mind to socialise if they wish to. Sita is a great cook, I can grill fish.
