Ideally located for walking holidays or just relaxing in the summer sun, imbibing the rural air of a typical Mallorquin village with a difference. This snug, tucked away semi-detached cottage (140 m²) with almost a hundred years of history, has one double and one twin bedroom, a large bathroom with bath and shower. The separate dining room exudes character as does the open plan kitchen/living room. Ideal both for summer, thanks to the swimming pool and large terrace with beautiful views of the green mountain slopes across the valley, and for winter, with radiators in every room and an efficient wood burning stove in the living room. The air conditioning helps to keep the cottage cool in summer while the heat pumps warm it up quickly in the winter.
Half built into the mountain side, the large larder/store room also contains the washing machine and a second fridge.

What could be more agreeable than lunch on the terrace in the warm winter sunshine, or an al fresco dinner in the cool of a balmy summer’s evening? Followed by a dip in the pool before a nightcap under the stars?

The house is a five minute walk from the central square of the village, though the walk back uphill may take a little longer!
Alaró itself, (URL HIDDEN) with just over 5,000 inhabitants, nestling in the Tramunta foothills, dates back to before the 13th century, and now is a mecca for weekend cyclists and walkers, most of whom stop at one of the pavement cafés for a snack or a drink before continuing on their way. Several top class restaurants surprise visitors with the quality of their menus, while the Saturday morning market is a must for locals and visitors alike. Choose between the craftwork on display, selecting some of the freshest fruit or vegetables on the island or enjoying the organ music concerts in the parish church every week.
The village also boasts two well stocked supermarkets and a variety of other shops, including newsagents selling the international press, and baker’s shops offering the full range of Mallorquin breads, pastries and cakes. A couple of art galleries and a small municipal theatre give the village a faintly cosmopolitan air, combined with its strong local tradition and culture.
Alaró Castle perched up on its mountain peak is a must for hikers or anyone who likes a view with a difference. You can always stop at the Es Verger restaurant on the way down for sustenance after the climb!
A bus runs a shuttle service from the centre of the village to the nearest train station in Consell, on the main line from Palma to Inca/Manacor.

For your comfort this cottage has full electric central heating for winter time, a wood burning stove and the heat pumps of the air conditioning system. The air conditioning makes even the most torrid of summer nights bearable.

Highly recommended. We loved it there. We visited for a week at the end of March 2016. The location and gardens were beautiful. The smell of the orange blossoms was intoxicating. The casa was exactly as advertised. Elena was so helpful... a great host.

The pictures really do the cottage justice and let you know exactly what to expect. The place is beautiful, the pool was sparkling clean and we got some of the best night's sleep we've ever had. Alaro itself is a lovely little town, plenty to see and do and you can access so many sights across the island in about 30mins drive in any direction. Elena was very friendly and took the time to mark up a map with all the must-see sights... the end result was a great week away and a very memorable holiday. 5* experience!

A charming, well equipped and quirky cottage with fabulous views, lovely terrace and terrific pool! Our favourite part of the whole experience was the delightful village.....totally unspoilt, no English spoken, no tourists! Perfect! We soon found our own 'local' where we enjoyed mixing with the villagers and drinking very cheaply! Restaurants were also good, in fact all food on the island seems great! Will definitely return!

This lovely traditional Mallorcan cottage is just perfect for a holiday where you'd like a mix of quiet relaxation while being near enough to local amenities. Alaró is a great little town with several restaurants, bars, cafes and shops. We were here during the week of festivities for San Roc, and the events in the central plaça were fantastic- especially the amazing walking fire demons! The children loved the gelato cafe, and we enjoyed eating at the hotel Traffic on the plaça. The property itself is nicely located on the edge of town, with superb countryside views from the patio and pool. The bedrooms and bathroom are spacious and the kitchen has everything a family needs to self cater. The use of a washing machine was a bonus. I'd definitely recommend hiring a small car - the roads are narrow and parking around the island was a lot easier. Do get one with a reasonable sized engine though, or it might not cope well with the hill up to the property (or elsewhere if you go off exploring). We enjoyed the local walk up to the castell d'alaro (drive some of the way up to the base of the hill - there's a little car park - €5). This is nearly a whole day up and down, with a picnic stop. We also managed several beach trips, the cuevas del drach, Valldemossa, Deia, Sóller, the wooden Tren de Soller to Palma (less busy this direction!) and Palma itself. The property in Alaró is perfectly situated in Mallorca to explore the whole island. We would definitely revisit, thank you Elena (and Maria who kindly met us to drive us to the property and show us around at the beginning of our holiday).

We had a wonderful stay at this calm Mallorcan villa. The kids lived in the pool and we were delighted to find this home is even more beautiful than the pictures show. Alaro is sleepy, unspoilt, safe and beautiful. We were there for fiesta -the demon parade is not to be missed! The gelato place in the square is worth a visit too. The house is easy to find but hard to drive the last bit, it is on top of a hill (great views) but the hill is steep and up a narrow lane (we had hired a little Aygo which wasn't up to the hill with all four of us in without a run up) - daunting in a hire car. But to walk into town is only 10-15mins so on foot is totally accessible. Elena was a great host, though we didn't meet her as she was on holiday. She was quick to reply to messages and full of recommendations about the island. Her friend Maria met us and showed us round in her place and was friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend this place for a quiet getaway as a family of four (boy 8 girl 10).

We stayed in the cottage with our two children, 4 and 7, and we all had a wonderful time. The garden and pool were where we spent most of our time, and the views were unbeatable. Although the trip into town wasn't easily walkable with young kids, we drove into the village for some enjoyable dinners and Gelato in the square. Alarò is a charming town.

Staying in Alarò is a very good place for exploring Mallorca. The village offers you all you need for your holiday. The house is lovely and you will have a great view. But if you are sensible for aircraft noise, maybe it's not the right place. During the mainly departure and landing times you will hear a continous lightly droning of the airplanes. The mentioned barking of the dogs could also be sometimes a problem if you haven't a deep sleep. Apart from this we loved the house, the surrounding, the pool and the very good equipment. We would come again anyway.
