Situated in a quiet leafy street in the heart of historic Ashgrove, our newly renovated apartment is ready to welcome you whether you’re here on business, family holiday or a peaceful romantic getaway. The apartment is only 5 minutes’ walk to all the Ashgrove village shops, banks & amenities. We have at least 6 buses within easy walking distance to take you on the 4km journey to Brisbane’s CBD & South Bank.

The space
A newly renovated Queenslander private, self-contained apartment downstairs with two bedrooms, 1 bathroom & washer & drier, separate WC, kitchen, dining room & lounge with TV, free WIFI & ceiling fans in all rooms. There’s a locked door at the top of the stairs so you can be assured of privacy & there’s a child proof gate at bottom of staircase to ensure children’s safety. The main bedroom can accommodate a cot/toddler bed. There's also a fold-away trundle bed if needed at an additional cost of $20 per stay/booking. Guests have access to a native garden, patio with BBQ & outdoor furniture. Apartment has private access with its own front & back doors & path to the street. On-street parking available. There's a washing line for guests' exclusive use. The apartment is tastefully decorated with antique furniture, in art deco style with some art nouveau influences in the William Morris soft furnishings. We hope that you find the new posturepedic mattresses to be comfortable. Laura Ashley sheets & Florence Broadhurst & Sheraton towels are included for your convenience.

Guest access
Guests will have full & exclusive use of the apartment, BBQ, washing line, & patio area, a pram stroller, high chair, baby bath, baby nappy change mat, potty, bumper seat, toys & children's books, as well as jigsaws, games & books.

Other things to note
There's a green folder in the lounge with information that guests will hopefully find useful, such as the free WIFI code. For cooler nights, there's an electric fire in the cupboard next to the bathroom. The trundle bed is kept in the 'Harry Potter' bedroom in the wardrobe under the stairs. Please note that there is a $20 fee per stay/booking for use of the trundle bed.

Location

Ashgrove, Queensland, Australia

Ashgrove is a very friendly suburb & home to many cafes & parks - all with their own unique style. Cafes are particularly popular for weekend breakfasts, home-made gelati, French macaroons as well as breads, cakes & pastries. Ashgrove also has several restaurants within easy walking distance: Italian, Thai, Indian, Australian cuisine & seafood, & The Grove pub plus The Junk Bar cocktail lounge. Ashgrove isn't all about its shops & eateries - it's also proud of its natural environment with well-maintained parks, bush tracks and nature reserves.

I'm a university lecturer & my husband & I are now empty nesters. We enjoy travelling & experiencing other cultures & over the years we have formed a good idea about what we are looking for in terms of comfortable accommodation & welcoming, relaxed hosts, so we hope to bring that to our experience of opening up our new apartment on Airbnb. We have stayed in all sorts of accommodation from camping on trips around Australia & New Zealand to 16th century coaching inns in UK, boutique hotels in Europe, 5* resorts in Fiji, Vanuatu & Asia, to our first terrific Airbnb experience in NSW. As well as travelling, we enjoy classes at the local gym, canoeing, snorkelling, cooking & gardening. I love picking herbs & chillies from our garden to add to recipes. We have worked hard in recent years to make our garden - bee, butterfly & bird-friendly. Our hive of native stingless bees are a joy to see about the place. We don't use their honey - we're just helping them & they help us by pollinating. Regular visitors to our bird baths, feeder & native garden beds include Rainbow Lorikeets, Corellas, Sulphur-Crested Cockatoos, Blue-Eyed Honey Eaters, Magpie Larks, Kookaburras & Fig Birds. We also have possums visiting at night, although we're not sure at the moment if our possum box is currently occupied! We have an enormous respect for nature, and believe in treating everyone with dignity.
