Quirky self-contained ground floor barn conversion with oak beams in small, quiet village of Bassenthwaite by a stream with ducks, walks from the door, only 15 mins to Keswick. 2 mins stroll by the stream to pub serving food, local ales, takeaways. Socially distance with ease in this quieter part of the Lakes. Located on our farm where chickens wander (the animals are in the fields). View to Skiddaw mountain in the distance (4th highest in Lakes) & skylight window to view the stars!

The space
The Nest is a former stable/barn which has been converted into a holiday home and is formed from four ground floor level rooms. It is ideal for walking couples, the elderly who don't "do" stairs and anyone really who just needs a cute little cottage for a holiday. A highlight for many guests is feeding the friendly ducks and chickens.

You enter the kitchen and to the left of the kitchen is the separate double bedroom. To the right of the kitchen is one step to the hallway leading to the shower room and the separate lounge.

Outside The Nest only a few seconds away is the stream where there are several benches and seats. Young and old alike can enjoy feeding the ducks and chickens watching their comical antics, or just relax with a book or a glass of wine or watch the world go by. Local pub only a short stroll up the riverside for good food etc. You can take walks from the door down country lanes, or for the more adventurous to climb the Skiddaw mountain behind us or walk to Bassenthwaite Lake. All of the Lake district within easy reach. The Solway coast is only 30 mins away - ideal for dog walking, bird watching or having a picnic.

Central laundry point with a small fee for the washer and drier, shared with the 4 other cottages we let.

Guest access
All of The Nest is yours. There is a courtyard for parking in front of the Nest which is shared with the owners and two other cottages.

Other things to note
We've had to remove certain items like maps/leaflets on the local area and cooking basics like oil due to COVID.

Sorry we only take one dog with prior arrangement - see our doggy rules section.

I have many years' experience of providing holidays within the Lake District with many of our guests returning for annual holidays year or several times a year! I have been listed on AirBnB since January 2018 and have many excellent reviews on other well-known accommodation platforms. I live less than a minute from the cottage so will be on hand if you have any queries.

Quiet neighbourhood with walks from the door . Good village pub for evening meals, drinks, takeaways. Many guests order an online shopping delivery. Plenty of things to do and places to eat nearby including Dodd Wood, Lake District Wildlife Park, Bassenthwaite Lake, Skiddaw Mountain, Wainwrights Northern Fells, award winning Lakes Distillery and Armathwaite Hall Spa, avoiding the towns and Lake District hot spots if you wish though they are all easily accessible.
