The 100 years old traditional stockhouse in a little village in the archipelago of Maxmo in Vöyri. The closest shop is about 10 km. The atmosphere is calm and quiet in the village. The place is 10 km from the local center and 40 km from the city center of Vaasa, the capital of the Pohjanmaa/Österbotten county. The region is about 50:50 bilingual finnish-swedish speaking. Lots of people speak both languages. English is a common foreign language. You get by with english very well.

The space
The house can be used even elderly people, but it is not very good for physically handicapped.

Guest access
You can use the sauna and the bath tub (both heated with wood). A little motorboat and two kayaks are available in case you wish to try boating, fishing or paddling. in the wintertime the sea is naturally covered by a thick layer of ice, :). Depending of the weather conditions, it is nice for moving on the ice with skis, skates, sparking sledge, walking, snow mobile...winter fishing is also popular. There are nice hikingroutes not far from the village, but it may be hard to get there in winter time, because of the snow.
Specially in the summertime there are lots of summer festivals, markets, music and other culture happenings in Vaasa and the region.

Other things to note
There is no luxury in the house. It is an old countryhouse in a village out in the nature. Basic heating in wintertime is with electric heating elements, and extra heating with the wood stove in the living room/kitchen room. There is no shower. We use the traditional way to keep us clean: Finnish sauna. There is also a bath tub heated with wood out in the garden. Anyway, there is warm and cold water, elecrticity, a dishwasher and washing machine. Nice place for someone who likes peace and nature, to hike, fish and pike berries and mushrooms...

We are ”empty nestlers” in our 60’s. He is an ex. medicinist and chief of service for seniors in the city of Vaasa. Now on pension. She is working as an executive manager of a handicap organisation. When we travel out, it is nice to see beautifull places, moniments and museums, enjoy of arts, culture and local food. But we love to meet people, when we are in other countries . We also like to recieve people and host them. People, who visit us are like ”open windows to the outside world” for us. To travel ourselves and to recieve people is a kind of hobby, that makes travelling 3D.
