Does a little rustic romance off the beaten path tickle, your fancy? Go back to a time when home was where the heart is. "When I stay at Lothlorien Woods Tree House it's like a place to live and love, not admire and be afraid to touch! It's rustic, simple, so easy to love and be loved!" Our Tree House is a unique example of life in a more primitive, idyllic time of greater appreciation for simple things in life.
Here it really is okay to "Slow Down, Disconnect, and Watch the Moss Grow!"
The space
NO TRAFFIC LIGHTS, NO CROWDS AND NO POLLUTION…JUST PURE FUN AND RELAXATION NEAR THE END OF A WINDING COUNTRY ROAD WAY OUTSIDE THE CITY TAKING YOU FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD
Relax in the private hot tub, let the sun, the moon and the stars wink at you through the gentle undulations of the firs in the peace of Lothlorien Woods. Nestled in the foothills of scenic, snow-capped Mt. Adams, adjacent to the Columbia River National Scenic Area and close to wind-surfing, Hood River Oregon, Lothlorien Woods Hide-a-way is a serene and charming, one-of-a-kind tree-house hidden in the forest with a view of snow-covered Mt. Adams -- Second only to Mt. Rainier in the Pacific Northwest.
On the main floor is the small but fully equipped kitchen, propane range and wood stove. The wood stove provides the primary heat for the tree house - firewood is included in the rental fee. A propane grill is on the covered deck, conveniently located just outside the kitchen door. Note: There is a non-functional dish-washer scheduled to be removed.
The first floor sitting room has a fold-out "Full-Size" futon/sofa covered with a coverlet made by the co-owner, Rebecca Conant. On the wall hangs one of her first quilts, entitled, "A Trip Around Lothlorien Woods: The Importance of Water." Throughout the treehouse quilts and photos by Rebecca are on display.
Up the spiral staircase find the Master Bedroom with handmade Western Red Cedar "Full-Size" log platform bed with medium-firm memory-foam mattress and adjacent unique en-suite bathroom facilities (shower, toilet, lavatory sink) "Continental Style" in the Master Suite.
Near-by all season activities abound - White Water Rafting, Kayaking, Swimming, Kite Boarding, Sail Boarding, Snow Shoeing, Cross-Country Skiing, Horseback Riding, Hiking, Spelunking in the Ice Caves, Waterfalls, and much more!
Children: All ages welcome with some cautions - Please advise ages of children.
Dogs: Most dogs welcome. Some restrictions and cautions apply.
Guest access
The Tree House is private, but not isolated. The caretaker's house is several hundred feet across the meadow and there is a farm on an adjacent property. Everyone is respectful and no one infringes on our guest's privacy except in event of an emergency. Situated all by itself in its own grove of majestic, 100-year-old fir trees, enjoy your very own hot tub on the very private back deck.
There is no wi-fi and cell phone access depends on carrier and weather -- The Tree House is the perfect place to unplug.
Directions: Following a beautiful drive on a winding country lane 30 minutes out of town, with views of both Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams, the final approach is on a rock road through a mixture of forested and open (some recently logged) areas. It is not unusual to see wild turkey and deer - or even the occasional Bobcat, Black Bear, or Cougar on the drive in.
Other things to note
*COVID 19 NOTES: We have adopted reservation guides and sanitizing protocols to meet and exceed Governor Inslee's Emergency Proclamation mandates. We will send our "STAY HOME AT OUR PLACE" pandemic policy which guests must read and respond to in order to proceed with the booking. Key Points:
*At this time we recommend guests book only for those who cohabit/live in the same residential space or "bubble."
*We follow CDC and WA state sanitation guidelines
*In-Person interaction between guests and caretakers during your stay is limited to needing assistance or unexpected maintenance issues. Our contact info will be provided as well.
*We ask our guests when done preparing meals to help our caretakers by cleaning cooking/prep surfaces, washing and reshelving
pots/pans/utensils & dishes.
NOTE: Because Airbnb does not offer a Pet option for their listings, please request our permission and pet policy before bringing a dog. We do have some guidelines and restrictions for guest dogs. Pet fee of $25/dog/night fee and 7.5% tax will be invoiced through the Resolution Center
NOTE: We require a minimum two-night stay weekends and holidays.
NOTE: We provide anti-bacterial hand soap and dish soap, but do not provide bath soap, body wash, or shampoo, or other toiletries.
NOTE: Outside/Campfires: Due to insurance company policies outside fires are not allowed in our Fire Zone between May 15th and October 1st or during other times when a burn ban may be implemented by regional or local authorities.
NOTE: During Spring, Summer, and Early Autumn there are the usual array of flying insects. Guests are encouraged to bring their preferred repellants.
NOTE: We do not provide Coffee Grounds or Whole Beans but do provide a drip coffee maker for our guests to use.
NOTE: Tree House Tranquil-a-Tree is a 50-year-old cabin in the trees near the end of a rock road, far from the city lights. A real, honest-to-goodness old-fashioned Tree House. It is rustic but welcoming. Small but cozy. It is simple, unique, and unusual place to live and not be afraid to touch. This is the treehouse of every kid's dreams. I am well into my 70's and it still tickles the kid in me when I enter this realm of childhood dreams.
NOTE: The Tree House is semi-isolated but not alone. As noted in Airbnb's "Accommodation Type", we are on a Farm. There is an on-site caretaker and a yurt (each about 400 feet away) and a neighboring organic goat farm. Guests will, from time-to-time hear the activities normal to farming, but in the distance and not up close.
NOTE: Bathroom facilities are incorporated in the 2nd Floor Master Suite with reduced privacy for guests who may be sleeping on the first-floor futon. If there are questions about privacy, please be sure to let us know before booking.
NOTE: The Tree House is suspended between several evergreen trees in nature. You may from time-to-time hear denizens of the trees (e.g. Squirrels, Chipmunks, etc.) scurrying on the roof or even finding a way into the walls/ceiling of the Tree House. If you do, please be sure to let us know so we can humanely evict and relocate them!! Dealing with the occasional intrusive visitor sometimes happens in remote, wilderness accommodations.
