Our lovely stable is temporarily closed while we make some renovations on the property. We hope to re-open later in the year.

It was love at first sight when we discovered our 1850's cottage and stable. How could a place walking distance to the city offer so much, with its heritage buildings, huge garden, large chook run, overladen fruit trees and beautiful light. We can’t wait to share it with you.

The space
Our beautiful sandstone two bedroom, two and a half level converted Stable is fully self contained. The light filled living room, a fully functioning kitchen, main bedroom and bathroom including a bath and shower are on the first floor. The second bedroom is a mezanine loft. On the ground floor there is a second living area and a laundry. The space will comfortably sleep 4 people. If needed we can provide a cot.

We love to be as sustainable as possible so when practical we re-purpose, reuse and recycle, we also like natural fibres and minimal plastics. The stable is beautifully furnished with retro furniture to keep its old charm but has new comforts including a new stove and heat pump (Tassie speak for airconditioner).

Guest access
The property has a large garden at the rear with lots of fruit trees, a couple of chooks and a work in progress veggie garden which our guests are free to help themselves to when produce is ripe. There are usually fresh eggs and currently the raspberries, lemons and plenty of garden greens are ready to eat, you may need to climb under the bird netting though as our garden blackbirds also have their eyes on the berries.

Other things to note
The property has an automatic gate and undercover off street parking.

Location

South Hobart, Tasmania, Australia

South Hobart is a lovely small village with lots of excellent cafes, restaurants, and a great small grocer. We are right in the middle of the South Hobart village so all these things are right at our doorstep.
Our property is also walking distance to the city and the waterfront or you can catch a bus right outside the front door.
The Hobart rivulet track is just across the road and makes a very pleasant stroll or bike ride in to town.

We have recently moved to Tasmania after 35 years in Sydney. We are loving the slower pace of life, having more time for people, the excellent food and the great outdoors. We love nothing better than an adventure or two, whether its in our own backyard, travelling around the outback or overseas, as long as its outside we are on board, bush walking, cycling, kayaking. We are still getting to know our new home and looking forward to discovering all it has to offer and sharing it with our guests.
