Stay in the six bedroom, 16 bed house with large living room, kitchen & solarium. Separate guest cabins. A log house with 6 additional beds is sometimes available. Camping available for larger groups.

Adjacent seasonal yoga studio for informal meetings, dance workshops & yoga retreats. Spring-fed natural swimming pond. Wrap around deck with BBQ. Fire pit by pond.

The space
Beautiful quiet organic country property perfect for retreats and creative workshops, informal meetings, yoga and dance workshops, meditation retreats, family gatherings, business retreats, star gazing and quiet rejuvenating getaways with good friends. Come out and stargaze the open dark skies on clear nights. We are sometimes able to arrange group day use for events that would be enhanced by the peaceful setting. Contact us for details and pricing and let us know what your specific needs are.

Catering can be arranged either on site or by local chefs who deliver to your door.

Guests can use the large seasonal yoga studio located on-site. There is seasonal swimming in the spring-fed, chemical free, natural swimming pond with fish and frogs located just down the hill from the main house. We have a six person hot tub located just off the back veranda of the main house (please note that at the moment we are not permitted to use the hot tub due to covid regulations: inquire about the hot tub status at the time of booking). Children who are not already confident swimmers must be supervised near the pond. It is strongly suggested that children wear life jackets if playing near the pond. Given the size of the property young children should be supervised at all times.

We also offer the space for small intimate weddings of up to about 35 people in conjunction with a three or four night booking. Guests should plan on at least a day for setup of the site, and a day for take-down and clean-up.We do make exceptions to these numbers but you would need to book to come out to see the property. A wedding is an important milestone, and we want to make sure that we are what you are looking. After you arrange a visit, we would decide together whether our property is the perfect location for your wedding. Generally we are a venue for those who want to design their own weddings in a lovely non-commercial setting.

Before purchasing the property your host had a full environmental assessment done on the main house. It was certified as mould free and with a low EMF rating. Details available on request.

Where you’ll be

Lanark, Ontario, Canada

We are approximately an hour from Ottawa, depending on traffic and where you are starting from. We are 1.5 hours from Kingston and about four hours from Toronto.

We are just off highway 511, about 25 minutes from the historic towns of Perth and Almonte, and about 30 minutes drive to skiing in Calabogie and shopping and good restaurants in Carleton Place. Black Tartan restaurant in Carleton Place is highly recommended for a great meal.

We are a 13 minute drive to Timber Run, an 18-hole golf course located just outside of Lanark Village.

For outdoor activities, boating, kayaking and canoeing, we are about 45 minutes from Murphy’s Point Provincial Park. There are many other spots to put a canoe or a kayak into our local rivers, the Tay and the Mississippi. Both Perth outfitters and Murphy’s Point have canoe and kayak rentals at reasonable prices. Rentals include life jackets and any other required equipment. The closest small towns are Lanark and Hopetown.

We are about fifteen minutes from the Balderson cheese factory which is open to the public. This is maple syrup territory so there are places in the area producing wonderful Ontario maple syrup. Hopetown is about three kilometres away with a convenient gas station and small restaurant. The village of Lanark is also close by with the best gas prices around, a small general store, restaurant and convenient food trucks.

I am an artist and photographer who moved out to the country for the first time in 2018. I have one daughter in university. I am planning to gradually improve the property and keep it as a organic refuge for wildlife and for all those who value the peace and beauty of Lanark County.
