Views of and access to the waterfall and swimming area behind the house. This is a working apiary -- beehives, large vegetable and flower garden.

The space
This yurt is featured in Spring 2019 Explore magazine as one of 10 Incredible Yurts to stay in Ontario: explore-mag./10-Incredible-Yurts-to-Camp-in-in-Ontario-this-Summer

This is a truly unique hand-crafted space. Entirely made of natural materials including horse-hair, yak-felt and organic cotton. Originally imported from Mongolia and purchased through GroovyYurts groovyyurts.com

There is one queen-size all-cotton futon, and one twin foam pull-out bed. There is plenty of floorspace should you wish to bring your own camping gear.

Guest access
Access to shower, washroom, full kitchen for tea and coffee and meal preparation. Continental breakfast items supplied.

Other things to note
The Mongolian yurt is the real deal -- all components are from Mongolia -- from the yak-felted walls, to the brightly painted wooded poles and tonu. A beautiful rounded cozy space with two cross-ventilated doors with windows and a flap in the ceiling to provide for air and light. Wood stove with wood provided.

The house is a century home with original pine and oak floors. Common spaces have been added within the last 10 years which gives this place an antique yet contemporary feel. Brightly coloured and many-windowed interior with tropical plants and love-birds.

Neighbourhood highlights

The village of Bellrock was founded in 1862 (pre-Confederation). It is a magical place with meandering streets and unique houses that resist any form of grid-pattern. This is an antidote to the city and the 'burbs! Adding to it all is the raucous Depot River that year-round white-waters and water-falls its way down to Napanee ON (it is possible to canoe this!). Bellrock has been the home of several Canadian writers including Stan Dragland, Helen Humphreys and Michael Ondaatje.

An old school-house which has now become a Community Hall (with concerts and other regular community-events) is a 3-minute walk away. The K&P Rail Trail is within biking distance. To the north, the Depot Lakes and three associated conservation areas -- deep fresh-water fishing, canoeing and swimming. Gould Lake Conservation Area is less than 15 minutes away. Frontenac Provinicial Park is less than half an hour away. Everyone is welcome to share the peace and quiet of this magical place!

We are a half-hour drive from beautiful downtown Kingston. And less than 2 hours from Ottawa. Consider this place a home-base from which to explore the entire south-eastern Ontario region.

My work: Anam Cara Spiritual Direction
Lives in Ontario, Canada
I have taught drama, english, history and religion; and work as a remedial teacher with students with learning disabilities. Presently, I work as an instructor therapist and as an educational consultant/therapist. I'll be starting a new personal business soon. It s called Connect -- Facilitating Authentic, Present and Meaningful Relationships in Families. www.connect-families.com I am currently involved with an initiative to provide long-term support/care for children with developmental disabilities; it will use drama-therapy as its foundation. www.kingstonmosaic.ca I love all these things! And more! I am drawn to learn Gaelic and study Sean-Nos singing, and our house was named after Celtic Spirituality (the Anam Cara -- Soul Friend -- www.AnamCaraSpiritualCentre.webstarts.com). I am a person who is drawn to live the life I have been given meaningfully: every day is a spiritual opportunity to somehow be a loving presence to all beings, landscapes and people I meet. My theological studies are far-ranging. In this phase of life, I have returned to my love of dance and music -- as a performer -- singing Early and Folk music, and performing the old folk dances of Europe and trance-dance in the Sufi tradition. I also have a lot of background in science (biology, pedology, geology) and have delved into anatomy, physiology and psychology with my research into Post-Traumatic-Stress-Disorder. I am a qualified yoga teacher (Iyengar-based) and a spiritual director (in the the Celtic tradition of the Anam Carawhat the Celtic Church).
